Role Summary:
As the face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, you will be an ambassador of exceptional service. You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive understanding of inflight service duties, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Furthermore, maintaining a positive and approachable attitude towards guests and fellow employees is paramount to cultivating a positive airline experience. This position is represented by a union.
Key Duties:
- Understand and strictly adhere to all safety regulations.
- Verify the functionality of all safety equipment onboard the aircraft.
- Greet passengers warmly, assist with seating assignments, and ensure proper stowage of carry-on luggage and adherence to security procedures.
- Clearly explain and demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment and emergency procedures for both aircraft and passengers.
- Prepare and serve meals and beverages, including alcohol, in accordance with established procedures.
- Effectively market onboard products such as meals and inflight entertainment, and efficiently process sales using a mobile device.
- Calmly address and resolve passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies, while maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Provide passengers with answers regarding flight operations and destination information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Additional Details:
- Training will be conducted in Portland, Oregon, and consists of four weeks of paid training.
- Tattoo policy: Visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest are not permitted. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is allowed per hand. Tattoos in other areas cannot exceed the size of a credit card and must not be offensive in nature. Employees may have one tattoo per arm/leg/foot/back of neck/behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are only permissible if they are not visible when looking directly at the individual. Tattoos may only be covered with a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch (covering with makeup is not allowed).
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or community service roles.
- Unwavering commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
- Body size must comply with specific aircraft dimensions to ensure safe operation of emergency equipment, cabin aisles, and emergency exits.
- Ability to meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of a Flight Attendant.
- Willingness to relocate to any of our Flight Attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
- Willingness to serve alcohol.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort in utilizing technology.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Demonstrated adaptability to perform a variety of duties and perform effectively under stressful situations.
- Ability to attend 4 weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
- Possession of a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports will need any appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Airport SIDA Badge Requirements:
Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar will be required to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.

Salary Details:
- First year step rate: $20.55 (per contract)
