Role Summary
The First Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe journey and a positive experience for all Horizon Air (QX) guests while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism. This is a union-represented position.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as Second in Command for the transport of passengers, mail, and freight.

Manage all aspects of flight conduct, including preflight paperwork, safe flight operations, and post-flight duties.

Ensure strict compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), company flight procedures, and internal policies.

Coordinate operational tasks, including fueling, loading, and passenger handling, in accordance with the Flight Operations Manual (FOM), FARs, and CRFs.

Maintain effective Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) and collaborate across all operational departments.

Represent the company through professional demeanor and strict adherence to grooming standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Minimum age of 21 years old.
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Minimum 1,465 hours of total flight time or R-ATP qualified.
-
200 hours of FAA-approved Prior Qualifying Time per FAR 121.436(a)(3).

Specific flight hour requirements:
-
500 hours of cross-country flight time (or 200 if R-ATP or military qualified).
-
100 hours of night flight time.
-
250 total hours as Pilot in Command, including 100 hours of cross-country and 25 hours of night flight.

75 hours of instrument flight time (actual or simulated).

25 hours of multi-engine flight time.
-
FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.

Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.

FCC restricted radiotelephone operator permit.

Valid driver’s license and a valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Demonstrated leadership, command ability, and excellent judgment.

Willingness to accept base assignments in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Medford, OR; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.

Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, holidays, and multiple days away from home.
Preferred Qualifications

100 hours of multi-engine flight time.

100 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.

Four-year degree from an accredited university.
