Responsibilities

  • Participates in the Safety System, report submission and process improvement. May be required to oversee the design and implementation of innovative global aviation programs in a specialized area (e.g., safety, training, international operations); monitors the performance of programs, ensures the appropriate resources exist to support the program (e.g., documentation and training).
  • Leads international flights for assigned aircraft as the pilot-in-command; responsible for overseeing the operational decisions required for international operations.
  • Able to plan and lead highly complex international flights to ensure HP’s travel needs are met; executes the self-dispatch of assigned flights (e.g., coordinates aircraft dispatch, servicing, and in-flight crew assignments).
  • Mentors and ensures that safety and maintenance comply with all applicable company standard operating procedures, CAA, ICAO and FAA regulations (e.g., conducts all pre- and post-flight inspections).
  • Ensures necessary resources are available when traveling to countries that may lack the appropriate ground support.
  • Consults and advises with Chief of Maintenance and Chief Pilot on any MEL or maintenance issues, dispatch, and ground support needs.
  • Oversees the benchmarking of industry best practices and cost modeling for related support services during travel.
  • Leads operational training and may supervise lower-level individual contributors and non-exempt staff.
  • Mentors’ others and ensures the aircraft is always in compliance with Domestic and International Regulations.

Education and Experience Required

  • Typically, 5+ years of international piloting experience, with significant time spent as a corporate pilot with service to a diverse range of airports both domestic and international.
  • Extensive flight experience in large cabin, turbo jet aircraft is preferred.
  • A four-year University degree is preferred, or equivalent trade experience may be considered.
  • ATP and GLF6 Type Rating is required but may be waived with extensive experience in long haul International operations.
  • Airframe and Power Plant Certificate is a plus, or completion of FSI or CAE initial training on assigned aircraft.
  • International experience involving both North Atlantic and Pacific long-haul crossings.
  • Self-dispatch of flights to include completing Flight Plans, Weight and Balance, APG and FRAs.
  • Review off trip sheets to ensure all paperwork is complete.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to meet ACS for ATP standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in aircraft dispatch and scheduling administration and technology applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface with senior executives, while maintaining a professional distance.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Broad knowledge of all functions related to aircraft operations (e.g., maintenance).
  • Excellent knowledge in a specialized area within aviation (e.g., safety, training).

  • May be required to develop global policies related to specialized areas within aviation.

  • Fiscally responsible for company assets and getting spend reports in on time.
  • Residence outside of the Bay Area may be considered based on availability to be onsite within an agreed upon time frame.
