As a Flight Attendant, your primary responsibility will be ensuring the safety and well-being of guests aboard Hawaiian Airlines aircraft. Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Security:
- Actively participate in preflight briefings to stay informed on weather conditions, flight paths, emergency protocols, and guest service details.
- Warmly greet guests, guide them to their assigned seats, and address flight-related inquiries with a welcoming demeanor.
- Assist guests with the safe stowage of carry-on luggage in designated overhead compartments or under-seat areas.
- Confidently demonstrate the use of essential safety equipment, including seat belts, oxygen masks, and life vests, and clearly explain emergency procedures before takeoff.
- Proactively monitor cabin aisles to ensure adherence to safety regulations, address infractions with tact and diplomacy, and skillfully de-escalate and resolve challenging guest interactions.
- Remain calm and composed while directing and assisting guests during emergency situations, such as aircraft evacuations following an emergency landing.
Guest Service:
- Provide a consistent and exceptional level of customer service throughout all phases of flight, adhering to established service protocols.
- Efficiently and courteously manage food and beverage service, ensuring a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience for all guests.
- Accurately process onboard transactions for various products, including alcoholic beverages, meals, and duty-free items.
- Administer basic first aid to guests in need, following established procedures.
Operational Excellence:
- Meticulously document emergency and safety incidents that occur during flight, providing detailed written and verbal reports.
- Prepare the cabin and guests for landing in accordance with established procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient disembarkation process.
- Maintain current knowledge and competency in emergency procedures, adhering to both Hawaiian Airlines and FAA regulations.
- Successfully complete annual FAA-approved re-certification training provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Maintain an active AOA Badge.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Project a professional image, adhering to the Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant uniform and appearance standards.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and the ability to effectively manage and resolve challenging guest interactions.
- Possess fluent spoken and written English language proficiency.
- Proficiently speak advanced/business level Japanese and demonstrate the ability to read Romaji or Kanji.
- Successfully complete an eight-week, unpaid, intensive FAA-approved training program provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Flexibility to relocate within the state of Hawaii or the continental U.S.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Meet specific physical requirements, including a vertical reach of 82 inches and the ability to comfortably occupy a cabin crew jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Hold valid authorization to work in the United States and a valid passport enabling travel to all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Possess the legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines, maintaining valid travel documents throughout employment.
- Demonstrate the physical stamina to withstand varying climatic conditions, gravitational forces during turbulence, and varying levels of cabin pressurization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum two years of direct customer service experience in the hospitality or airline industry.
- Alternatively, four years of experience in a customer-facing role requiring exceptional communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills within industries like retail, education, healthcare, or professional services.
- Ability to read and translate Japanese characters (Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana).
- College education or degree.
