Role Summary
The First Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the utmost safety and delivering an outstanding experience for all passengers. This position demands a consistently high level of professionalism and operates under a union collective bargaining agreement.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving as Second in Command for the safe and efficient transport of passengers, mail, freight, and other commercial operations.
- Ensuring strict adherence to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company flight procedures, and policies on all scheduled flights and routes to guarantee flight safety.
- Maintaining a highly professional conduct and demeanor at all times.
- Operating company aircraft in full compliance with established Qualification Standards and all Flight Manual operating procedures and policies.
- Effectively communicating with all relevant agencies and personnel, consistent with company communication practices.
- Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge equivalent to an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate holder, including all applicable FARs and the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM).
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required Qualifications (Common to both Alaska and Hawaiian Seniority Lists)
- Minimum of 1,500 hours of total documented flight time.
- A current First Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 500 hours of fixed-wing turbine time (airplane and powered lift combined).
- Possession of a valid passport with unlimited U.S. access and at least six months validity remaining at the time of employment. Employees with non-U.S. passports will require appropriate travel documentation.
- Ability to undertake immediate and repeated domestic and international travel to any location served by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License issued by a U.S. state or territory.
- Minimum age of 23 years.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional judgment, leadership abilities, demonstrated command presence, and maturity.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
- Capacity to maintain composure under high-pressure situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Specific Requirements for Alaska Seniority List
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Airplane rating.
- Completion of all aeronautical experience requirements for an ATP, Airplane category rating, as stipulated in 14 CFR §61.159.
- A current ATP written examination result.
- Comfortable with potential domiciles in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Anchorage, AK; Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA.
Specific Requirements for Hawaiian Airlines Seniority List
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certified, Airplane Multiengine Land with English proficient endorsement required.
- Comfortable with potential domiciles in Seattle, WA; Honolulu, HI; Cincinnati, OH.
Preferred Qualifications (Common to both Seniority Lists)
- Four-year degree from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 500 hours of multi-engine airplane time.
- At least 50 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.
- 500 hours of turbine Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
- Experience operating turbojet or turboprop aircraft in complex flying environments.

Salary Details

- First-year pay rate: $124.72 per contract hour.
- Monthly pay guarantee: 70 hours.
- Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 84 hours (short call).
- Hawaiian Seniority List:
- First-year pay rate: $87.00 per contract hour.
- Monthly pay guarantee: 75 hours.
- Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 75 hours (short call).
