Role Summary

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are seeking highly skilled and professional First Officers to join our esteemed flight crews. This critical, union-represented role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient conduct of flights and delivering an exceptional experience for all guests, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as Second in Command for the safe and efficient transport of passengers, mail, freight, and other commercial operations.
  • Ensures strict compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Company Flight Procedures, and Company Policies to maintain the highest level of flight safety.
  • Conducts all business interactions with professionalism and a positive demeanor, representing the airlines with integrity.
  • Operates Company aircraft in strict adherence to established Qualification Standards and all Flight Manual operating procedures and policies.
  • Effectively communicates with all required agencies and personnel, maintaining Company Communication Practices.
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive aeronautical knowledge commensurate with an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate holder, including thorough familiarity with all applicable FARs and the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM).

Qualifications and Requirements

Alaska Seniority List Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of total documented flight time.
  • A current First Class FAA Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of fixed-wing turbine time (airplane and powered lift combined).
  • A current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States, valid for at least six months from the employment start date. Non-U.S. passport holders will require appropriate travel documentation.
  • Ability to travel immediately and repeatedly to any domestic or international location served by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Airplane rating.
  • Satisfies all aeronautical experience requirements for an ATP, Airplane category rating, as stipulated in 14 CFR §61.159.
  • Holds a current ATP written exam.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A valid Driver’s License issued by a U.S. state or territory.
  • Comfortable with potential domiciles in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Anchorage, AK; Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA.
  • Excellent judgment, leadership skills, demonstrated commandability, and maturity.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Minimum age of 23 years.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree from an accredited university.
  • An FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
  • 500 hours of multi-engine airplane time.
  • Minimum of 50 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.
  • 500 hours of turbine Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
  • Experience with turbojet/turboprop aircraft in a complex flying environment.

Hawaiian Airlines Seniority List Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with potential domiciles in Seattle, WA; Honolulu, HI; Cincinnati, OH.
  • Excellent judgment, leadership skills, demonstrated commandability, and maturity.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Minimum age of 23 years.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Details:

Alaska Seniority List Pay:

  • First-year pay rate: $124.72 (per contract)
  • Monthly pay guarantee: 70 hours
  • Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 84 hours (short call)

Hawaiian Seniority List Pay:

  • First-year pay rate: $87.00 (per contract)
  • Monthly pay guarantee: 75 hours
  • Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 75 hours (short call)
