Pilot in Command (PIC)
The Pilot in Command (PIC) is entrusted with the safe and efficient operation of assigned aircraft, ensuring unwavering compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and operational procedures. He manages all facets of flight preparation and execution, encompassing meticulous crew coordination, diligent risk management, and exceptional passenger service. This pivotal role demands exceptional leadership acumen, demonstrable technical expertise, and an unwavering focus on safety and customer satisfaction. The PIC serves as the ultimate authority regarding all decisions pertaining to the aircraft and its operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as the Pilot in Command, assuming final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft on all assigned flights. Ensures compliance with all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Conducts thorough pre-flight planning, encompassing comprehensive weather analysis, precise performance calculations, strategic routing, meticulous fuel planning, and detailed aircraft airworthiness checks. Ensures that all flight preparations align with company and regulatory standards.
- Maintains a high level of crew coordination and communication throughout all phases of flight utilizing Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles. Leads the crew in performing duties in a professional, efficient, and cooperative manner, fostering a culture of teamwork and safety.
- Provides the highest caliber of customer service, ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of passengers. Serves as the primary point of contact for clients during the flight, addressing any concerns or special requests with professionalism and attentiveness.
- Actively engages in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), championing a proactive safety culture. Identifies and mitigates risks using risk analysis tools, and actively participates in safety audits and corrective action processes.
- Mentors and guides First Officers and other flight crew members. Ensures that all crew members thoroughly understand their roles and responsibilities, providing clear direction and constructive feedback to foster professional growth and development.
- Completes all required post-flight documentation meticulously, including accurate trip reports, detailed logbook entries, and comprehensive maintenance or operational notes. Reports any safety concerns or equipment issues promptly to the maintenance team.
- Ensures that all flight operations are in strict accordance with FAA regulations, including maintaining currency with required training, valid medical certifications, and adherence to company policies. Maintains flight crew records diligently and ensures they are up to date.
Qualifications:
- Flight Experience:
- Minimum 5000 total flight hours.
- 2500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- 2500 hours multi-engine land, with 1500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
- 2000 hours in turbine aircraft and 500 hours instrument time.
- Certifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating required.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate required.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, flight planning, and safety management systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficient in the use of flight planning and aviation management software.
- Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in Part 135 operations is highly desirable.
