Pilot in Command
The Pilot in Command (PIC) is entrusted with the safe and efficient operation of assigned aircraft, ensuring meticulous compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and operational procedures. He manages all facets of flight preparation and execution, encompassing crew coordination, comprehensive risk management, and exceptional passenger service. This pivotal role demands exceptional leadership acumen, advanced technical expertise, and an unwavering focus on safety and customer satisfaction. The PIC serves as the ultimate authority on all determinations pertaining to the aircraft and its operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as the Pilot in Command, bearing ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft on all assigned flights. Ensures adherence to all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Conducts comprehensive pre-flight planning, encompassing weather analysis, precise performance calculations, optimal routing, meticulous fuel planning, and thorough aircraft airworthiness checks. Guarantees that all flight preparations align with company and regulatory standards.
- Maintains exemplary crew coordination and clear communication throughout all phases of flight, employing Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles. Leads the crew in performing duties professionally, efficiently, and cooperatively, cultivating a culture of teamwork and unwavering safety.
- Delivers the highest caliber of customer service, prioritizing the safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction of passengers. Serves as the primary liaison for clients during the flight, addressing any concerns or accommodating special requests.
- Actively participates in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), fostering a proactive safety culture. Identifies and mitigates risks using established risk analysis tools, and contributes to safety audits and corrective action processes.
- Mentors and guides First Officers and other flight crew members, ensuring that all crew members comprehend their respective roles and responsibilities. Provides clear direction and constructive feedback to promote professional growth.
- Completes all mandatory post-flight documentation, including detailed trip reports, accurate logbook entries, and comprehensive maintenance or operational notes. Promptly reports any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team.
- Ensures that all flight operations adhere strictly to FAA regulations, maintaining currency with requisite training, valid medical certifications, and current company policies. Maintains up-to-date flight crew records.
Qualifications:
- Flight Experience:
- Minimum 5000 total flight hours.
- 2500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- 2500 hours multi-engine land, with 1500 hours as multi-engine PIC.
- 2000 hours in turbine aircraft and 500 hours instrument time.
- Certifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating required.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate required.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit preferred.
- Skills:
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of FAA regulations, flight planning methodologies, and safety management systems.
- Possesses excellent communication and leadership skills, coupled with the capacity to make sound, well-reasoned decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the utilization of flight planning and aviation management software.
- Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in Part 135 operations is highly desirable.
