First Officer
A First Officer serves as the second-in-command, providing essential support to the Captain by executing assigned duties, adhering to instructions, and sharing responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the aircraft. This role is crucial in contributing to the safety, security, and well-being of the crew, passengers, cargo, and equipment. The First Officer exemplifies integrity, leadership, and professionalism, upholding the highest operational standards and making ethical, decisive decisions in both normal and contingency operations under the Captain’s ultimate authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Captain in maintaining ultimate responsibility and accountability for the safe operation of the airplane, crew, passengers, and cargo, ensuring strict compliance with UAE GCAA and international aviation regulations, company policies and procedures, and industry standards.
- Performing delegated flight duties in compliance with company policies, aviation regulations, and safety standards.
- Fostering professionalism and collaboration among crew members through effective leadership and Crew Resource Management (CRM), while upholding the company’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Executing all duties with precision and professionalism, adhering to company Operations Manuals, SOPs, and policies to ensure compliance and operational integrity, and proposing alternative actions when needed, guided by sound CRM principles.
- Monitoring airplane systems, performance, and navigation, promptly addressing irregularities and ensuring adherence to the flight plan.
- Identifying, documenting, and reporting safety incidents, SOP breaches, or operational irregularities, proactively highlighting opportunities to enhance safety and efficiency. All reports must be accurate, comprehensive, and submitted through appropriate channels in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Conducting pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure the serviceability of emergency systems and flight deck equipment.
- Sharing responsibility for the aircraft, passengers, crew, and operations from boarding to shut down, overseeing activities such as fueling and loading, and immediately alerting the Commander to any irregularities.
- Supporting the Captain by assisting with responsibilities for the crew from the time of reporting for duty at the Base of Operations, acting in a supporting role at outstations and during layovers, and contributing to the safe and efficient management of all aspects of the return sector(s) until release following post-flight duties upon return to base.
- Assisting the Captain, who as the airplane Commander holds full accountability and responsibility for all operational decisions and the overall conduct of the flight, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
- Representing the airline as a brand ambassador by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and appearance while on duty and in public, and supporting the Captain in ensuring the crew consistently upholds the corporate and brand image, reporting any inconsistencies to the Captain and the company through established reporting mechanisms.
- Operating all flight duties in alignment with the company’s commercial objectives, expertly balancing operational efficiency with an unwavering commitment to safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements, ensuring that every decision made during flight operations supports the airline's mission while maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and operational excellence.
- Staying informed on the latest UAE GCAA and international aviation legislation, operational standards, and industry best practices, and proactively integrating this knowledge to ensure full legal compliance, adherence to procedures, and alignment with evolving industry trends and standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Fluent in English
- Minimum 2,500 hours total flying time
- Minimum 1,000 hours on modern (EFIS), multi crew, multi engine airplane over 10 tonnes operating weight (PIC time preferable)
- Minimum 1500 hours MPA hours flying time.
- ICAO English Language Proficiency requirements (Level 4 or above).
- Unrestricted class 1 Pilot Medical Certificate from an ICAO Compliant State.
- ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).

Information Security Requirements (ISR)
The First Officer reads and complies with the ISR policies of the Company and diligently reports any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. The First Officer completes all required ISR awareness sessions and follows associated guidelines in day-to-day business operations.
