Job Title: First Officer
About the Role:
The First Officer serves as a vital member of the flight crew, acting as the second-in-command under the Captain's ultimate authority. This role is instrumental in supporting the Captain through the execution of assigned duties, adherence to instructions, and shared responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the aircraft. The First Officer contributes significantly to the safety, security, and well-being of the crew, passengers, cargo, and equipment. The position demands integrity, leadership, and professionalism, upholding the highest operational standards and making ethical, decisive decisions during both normal and contingency operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- The First Officer supports the Captain in maintaining ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft, crew, passengers, and cargo, ensuring strict compliance with UAE GCAA and international aviation regulations, company policies and procedures, and industry standards. The role involves performing delegated flight duties in accordance with company policies, aviation regulations, and safety standards, fostering professionalism and collaboration among the crew through effective leadership and Crew Resource Management (CRM).
- The First Officer executes all duties with precision and professionalism, adhering to Operations Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and policies to ensure compliance and operational integrity, while proposing alternative actions when necessary based on sound CRM principles. Responsibilities include continuously monitoring aircraft systems, performance, and navigation, promptly addressing irregularities and ensuring adherence to the flight plan. The First Officer is required to identify, document, and report safety incidents, SOP breaches, or operational irregularities, proactively highlighting opportunities to enhance safety and efficiency, ensuring all reports are accurate, comprehensive, and submitted through appropriate channels in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks are conducted to ensure the serviceability of emergency systems and flight deck equipment. The First Officer shares responsibility for the aircraft, passengers, crew, and operations from boarding to shut down, overseeing activities such as fueling and loading, and immediately alerting the commander of any irregularities.
- The First Officer assists the Captain with responsibilities for the crew from reporting for duty at the Base of Operations, acting in a supporting role at outstations and during layovers, and contributing to the safe and efficient management of all aspects of return sector(s) until release following post-flight duties upon return to the Base. The First Officer assists the Captain, who as the aircraft Commander holds full accountability for all operational decisions and the overall conduct of the flight, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
- Representing the airline as a brand ambassador is essential, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and appearance while on duty and in public. The First Officer supports the Captain in ensuring the crew consistently upholds the corporate and brand image, reporting any inconsistencies through established mechanisms. All flight duties are operated in alignment with commercial objectives, expertly balancing operational efficiency with an unwavering commitment to safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Staying informed on the latest UAE GCAA and international aviation legislation, operational standards, and industry best practices is crucial, proactively integrating this knowledge to ensure full legal compliance, adherence to procedures, and alignment with evolving industry trends and standards.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Fluent in English
- Minimum 2,500 hours total flying time
- Minimum 1,000 hours on modern (EFIS), multi-crew, multi-engine aircraft over 10 tonnes operating weight (PIC time preferable)
- Minimum 1500 hours Multi-Pilot Aircraft (MPA) flying time
- ICAO English Language Proficiency requirements (Level 4 or above)
- Unrestricted Class 1 Pilot Medical Certificate from an ICAO Compliant State
- ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)

Information Security Requirements:
The employee reads and complies with the Company's Information Security policies and diligently reports any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completes all required ISR awareness sessions and follows associated guidelines in day-to-day business operations.
