Position Summary

The Flight Instructor plays a critical role in delivering exceptional ground school and simulator flight instruction. This position requires adherence to all relevant aviation regulatory standards and strict compliance with established FlightSafety Training principles. The ideal candidate is dedicated to ensuring trainee success and maintaining the highest standards of instructional quality.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role involves standard physical activities required for instructional duties and simulator operations. The employee is regularly required to manipulate controls, tools, or objects with hands and arms, and utilize speech and hearing capabilities. Occasional requirements include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling.

Specific physical abilities must include the range of motion necessary to: reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder and anti-torque controls with both feet; reach and control numerous switches and controls within the simulator device from the instructor's station; enter and exit the simulator device via the access ramp; move between the instructor station, screen, and podium in a classroom setting; and safely exit a malfunctioned simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude. Specific vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The instructor must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical components. Occasional exposure may occur in high, precarious locations, outside weather conditions, wet/humid environments, fumes or airborne particulates, toxic/caustic chemicals, temperature extremes, electrical shock risk, radiation risk, and vibration.
