Aviation Pilot / Flight Program Operations

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking qualified pilots to join the Flight Program Operations team. As a part 135 certificate holder, the organization supports critical national missions, including the inspection of navigational aids, commissioning of airport equipment, aviation research, and transportation support for government agencies. Positions are located in Arlington, VA; Kennesaw, GA; Atlantic City, NJ; Battle Creek, MI; Oklahoma City, OK; Fort Worth, TX; Sacramento, CA; and Anchorage, AK.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will support the safety and integrity of the national airspace system. Responsibilities include conducting flight inspections, supporting research and development missions with advanced avionics, performing flight tests for new procedures, and executing critical event response missions to support the American public.

Requirements and Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Subject to designated or random drug testing and security investigation requirements.
  • May be subject to a one-year probationary period.
  • Financial disclosure statements may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess the appropriate FAA pilot certificates and meet the following flight hour requirements:

  • Certificates: Valid Commercial Pilot Certificate with airplane, multi-engine land, and instrument ratings OR an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating. (Candidates without an ATP must complete the written exam within 60 days of appointment).
  • Medical: Valid first or second-class medical certificate (First class required prior to appointment).
  • Total Flight Time: 1500 hours.
  • Pilot-in-Command Time: 250 hours.
  • Night Flying Time: 75 hours.
  • Flying Time (Last 12 Months): 100 hours.
  • Multi-engine Airplane Time: 500 hours.
  • Instrument Time: 75 hours (minimum 10 hours actual instrument weather).

Note: To qualify at the FV-J (FG-14) level, applicants must possess an ATP certificate and an Airspace Inspection Pilot (ASIP) credential.

Application Process

Applicants must provide FAA Form 3330-47-3 (ASIP) to verify flight hours. Applications must be submitted online; faxed, mailed, or emailed submissions will not be accepted. Work history must provide specific examples demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.

Additional Information
