The Opportunity
Dynamic Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Management (FM) Base Manager for its Sacramento, California base. This pivotal role reports directly to the Operations Program Manager and holds comprehensive responsibility for all activities at the Sacramento base. Key areas of oversight include financial management, operational scheduling, personnel leadership, customer relations, and aircraft maintenance status.
This critical position requires a professional with established expertise in either aircraft maintenance or piloting. The selected candidate will periodically perform, in addition to their managerial duties, either pilot or mechanic duties to directly support mission activity requirements, ensuring operational readiness and efficiency across fire management missions.
Key Responsibilities
The Fire Management Base Manager's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the base's financial performance, which involves diligent budgeting, robust cost control, and accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinating pilot and mechanic schedules to optimize operational efficiency and maximize resource utilization.
- Cultivating and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication, proactive engagement, and timely issue resolution.
- Ensuring strict compliance with all aircraft maintenance schedules, relevant regulatory requirements (including FAA), and established company policies and procedures.
- Collaborating effectively with other internal departments to streamline base operations and enhance overall service delivery.
- Providing strong leadership and guidance to base staff, fostering a positive, productive, and safety-conscious work environment.
- Undertaking quarterly travel to the company headquarters in Bridgewater, VA, for essential professional development training and corporate leadership alignment sessions.
Required Qualifications
Prospective candidates for the Fire Management Base Manager position must meet the following stringent criteria:
- Possession of a valid FAA aircraft mechanic certificate OR a valid FAA pilot certificate, with the demonstrated ability to meet all qualification requirements of FAA Part 135 for either a pilot or a mechanic.
- For Pilot Candidates: Must meet the following experience and qualifications for Part 135.243 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR):
- 1500 hours total time.
- 1200 hours PIC in an airplane.
- 200 hours PIC multi-engine land.
- 100 hours PIC multi-engine fixed wing in the last 12 months.
- 200 hours PIC flying low level in mountainous terrain (at or below 2500 feet AGL in terrain identified as mountainous per 14 CFR 95.11 and depicted in Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) figure 5-6-5).
- 200 hours PIC night.
- 500 hours PIC cross-country.
- 50 hours PIC instrument in flight.
- 75 hours PIC instrument simulated.
- 25 hours PIC total time in Beechcraft King Air make and model.
- 10 hours PIC in Beechcraft King Air make and model in the last 12 months.
- Demonstrated significant experience in either aircraft maintenance or piloting, coupled with a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of complex aviation operations.
- Proven strong leadership and exceptional communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent organizational skills, superior problem-solving capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
- A proven ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously within a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency in FAA regulations and adherence to industry best practices.
- Availability to work irregular hours and travel as necessary to adequately support base operations.
