Flight Training Procedures Instructor

This position contributes to the company's success by conducting various training modules. The Flight Training Procedures Instructor delivers instruction in New Hire Pilot Indoctrination, Return to Work (RTW) Pilot Reorientation, and Instructor/Evaluator Principles of Instruction (POI) courses, adhering to company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations.

Training assignments encompass classroom facilitation, instructor-led technical training, knowledge testing, and practical exercises. Pilot Indoctrination and RTW instructional areas include, but are not limited to, Security, Operations Specifications, Aircraft Operating Manuals, Crew Member Duties & Responsibilities, Aircraft Performance, Weight & Balance, Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Usage, and Flight Planning & Dispatch Procedures.

POI subject matter includes Fundamental Principles of the Teaching-Learning Process, Instructional Methods, Procedures, and Techniques, Evaluating Student Performance, and communication skills.

Responsibilities extend to conducting student progress assessments and preparing students for end-of-course examinations. The instructor assists with class scheduling, logistics, and communications. Furthermore, the role involves serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for e-learning and ILT program development projects. The instructor consistently practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Consistently prioritizes the safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse perspectives, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
  • Requires a minimum of a two-year college degree or equivalent work experience as an instructor/facilitator.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Candidates without an FAA Ground Instructor certificate must be eligible to obtain an FAA Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate within twelve months of hire.
  • Candidate must successfully complete, or have previously completed, Delta Instructor/Evaluator Indoctrination and Academic Instructor Qualification curriculum.
  • Experience as a pilot at a 14 CFR Part 121 Certified Air Carrier is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching technical, non-technical, and compliance training programs is preferred.
  • Experience with air carrier training programs is strongly preferred.
  • FAA Ground Instructor Certificate with Advanced and/or Instrument Rating (AGI or IGI) is preferred.
  • Airline Transport Pilot certificate or Commercial Pilot certificate with Instrument Rating or military equivalent is preferred.
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate or military equivalent is preferred.
