Position Description – Pilot, Captain
The Captain’s primary responsibility is to provide for the safe, comfortable, and economical operation of his/her aircraft. The Captain is directly responsible for the safety and well-being of top management personnel for Corteva AgriScience. The Captain is directly responsible for company assets in excess of $40 million.

When assigned as the Pilot in Command (PIC) for a trip, a captain assumes command responsibility for the aircraft and crew. And is responsible to the Chief Pilot. When assigned as the Second in Command, a captain is operationally responsible to the designated PIC for that trip.

Key Responsibilities – What you will do to help us grow!

  • Report safety hazards and safety performance deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Works within Corteva Aviation to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support customer service.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the pilots and flight technicians.
  • Responsible for the safe conduct of the flight including limitations, checking and assessing weather, advisories, and NOTAMS.
  • Calculate and review that all aircraft operational matters are within manufacturers, FAA, and company limits including fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements, weight and balance, and performance measures.
  • Provide for the servicing (including refueling), maintenance, and protection of the aircraft at all times while away from the home station. Ensure all discrepancies are entered appropriately. Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager for advice and assistance with maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure the completion of all required aircraft forms, logs, and reports.
  • Perform flight following function, including progress or delays of the trip, informing operations of the location and status of the aircraft and crew.
  • Coordinate additions to and deletions from the passenger lists prior to aircraft movement and coordinate changes of aircraft movement with Operations.
  • Ensures compliance with the Corteva Aviation Flight Operations Manual and all federal/ICAO aviation regulations.
  • Be a role model in safety and communications.
  • May assist in selection, in interviewing and hiring of new pilots.
  • Function as Pilot in Command of flights for which he/she has been assigned. Will also act as Second in Command (SIC) as scheduled. As SIC, will support the flight operation by assisting the Captain of the flight.
  • Remain current and qualified in assigned aircraft.
  • On flights with international destinations, ensure all crew members and passengers have complete paper credentials for admittance to all countries (passports, visas, vaccination records, etc.). Responsible for all crew members and passenger’s compliance with customs, immigration and agricultural regulations of all countries including cabotage laws.
  • Ensure that all crew members are fully qualified, properly rested, prepared for flight, have all required licenses and certificates in their possession, and are briefed on all specific requirements of the trip.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all aircraft documents are complete prior each flight.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all company procedures and federal aviation regulations (FAR’s) are complied with including preflight inspections, use of all aircraft checklists, and ensuring that aircraft are operated in a safe manner so as to not endanger life or property at any time.
  • Provide for the safety and comfort of passengers, and satisfy their needs and requests, within the limits of sound operational procedures.
  • Provide training and indoctrination for SIC’s to assist them in upgrading to Captain.
  • When requested by the Chief Pilot, will provide individual appraisals of crew members flying skills for preparation of employees’ annual performance evaluations.
  • Assist Chief Pilot as needed.

Position Description – Pilot, First Officer
The First Officer is responsible for assisting the Captain to provide for the safe, comfortable, and economical operation of his/her aircraft. The First Officer ensures that safety is always first, and is operationally responsible to the Captain. This relationship remains in effect, regardless of which pilot is flying the aircraft, or which seat is occupied.

  • Works within Corteva Aviation to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with the Corteva Aviation Flight Operations Manual and all federal/ICAO aviation regulations.
  • Develop personnel for self-improvement using direct feedback.
  • Be a role model in safety and communications between functions.
  • Act as Second In Command (SIC) on assigned aircraft. As the SIC, will support the flight operation by assisting the Captain of the flight.
  • Ensure he/she is current and qualified in assigned aircraft.
  • Provide for the safety and comfort of passengers, the crew, and the aircraft.
  • Maintain valid licenses and certificates required to perform flight duties. Obtain and maintain passports and, if required, visas, current international certificates of vaccination, and other documents as required to travel to specific international destinations.
  • Perform complete preflight inspection of the aircraft including external walk-around and cabin inspection before each flight, as practical.
  • Responsible for knowing and complying with company policies and checklists.
  • Setup the flight deck for flight.
  • Responsible for supervising refueling and servicing of the aircraft and ensuring that provisions are on board for each flight.
  • Compute aircraft performance data, program the flight management system, and brief the Captain prior to departure.
  • Load and unload baggage and provide other services to assist the passengers.
  • Assist the Captain in the management of the flight and flying the aircraft in accordance with the directions of the Captain.
  • At the Captain’s discretion, the First Officer may perform takeoffs and landings.
  • Monitor activity in the cabin to determine if passenger needs are being met.
  • Maintain vigilance to assume the duties of Captain if that person should become incapacitated or unable to perform the Captain’s duties.
  • Responsible for continually improved professionalism and knowledge by self-study courses, National Business Aviation Association publications and web information, and reading trade journals. Expand and improve the knowledge and skills necessary for upgrade to Captain.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Captain or Corteva Aviation management personnel.

Qualifications

Background and Experience – What you’ll bring to the table. (Both Positions)

Education

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.

Licenses

  • ATP, Airplane Multi-engine Land. Type rating in G550 aircraft is preferred. FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.

Medical

  • FAA First Class Medical Certificate

Flight Time

  • 1500 hours total time, 500 hours multiengine turbine.

Training

  • Completion of General Emergency, International Procedures, and Management of Inflight Illness and Injury is preferred.

Additional Abilities

  • Ability to interact well with a wide variety of people and personalities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unusual working hours and working conditions.
  • Requires approximately 75 nights per year away from home.
