Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme
Cathay Pacific is actively seeking ambitious and passionate individuals to join its esteemed Cadet Pilot Programme. This program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring aviators to cultivate a career in aviation and develop into future captains within the airline. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive, sponsored training to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), enabling them to operate regional, long-haul, and ultra-long-haul flights.
Training and Development
The Cathay Cadet Pilot Programme provides an immersive training experience. Ground training will be conducted at leading institutions in Hong Kong and globally. Flight training will take place at world-renowned flying training organizations located in the United States or Australia. The comprehensive ~80-week program is open for applications year-round, offering a clear pathway to commence a rewarding flying career.
Key Responsibilities and Training Components:
- Theoretical Ground Training: Participants will receive extensive ground school theory, fostering essential skills, knowledge, and confidence required for airline piloting.
- Expert Instruction: World-class instructors will guide cadets through the intricacies of flight theory, aircraft systems, and regulatory knowledge necessary for success.
- Practical Flying Experience: Training includes hands-on experience in both single and twin-engined light aircraft.
- Advanced Simulation and Procedures: Cadets will utilize jet aircraft simulators to practice airline operating procedures, large jet handling, and multi-crew flying.
Eligibility Requirements
Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Possess the legal right to live and work in Hong Kong or the Chinese Mainland. Candidates eligible for IANG or TTPS visas are encouraged to apply.
- Have graduated from secondary school with strong passes in English Language, Mathematics, or Science. A university or aviation degree is considered an advantage.
- Demonstrate English proficiency through a valid certificate from one of the following:
- IELTS: Academic or General score of 6.0 or above (with individual band scores of Listening: 6+ & Speaking: 6+).
- TOEIC: Score of 800 or above (with individual band scores of Listening: 400+ & Speaking: 160+).
- TOEFL iBT: Score of 80 or above (with individual band scores of Listening: 21+ & Speaking: 21+).
- Be physically fit and eligible for a Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) Class 1 Medical Certificate. (Refer to HKCAD policy for complete fitness-to-fly requirements).
- Be able to meet flight deck reach requirements, potentially including a static reach test and flight simulator reach assessment.
- Achieve ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) English Language Proficiency Level 4 or above.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment background check, including criminal records.
- Be aged 18 years or above.
As this is a safety-sensitive role, candidates must also pass a pre-employment drug test, conducted in accordance with HKCAD Guidance for screening of Psychoactive Substances - Annex B, CAD373.
Upon successful completion of the Cathay Cadet Pilot Programme, individuals will receive further information regarding their integration into Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong as a Second Officer.
