Key Programme Components & Training
The Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme offers extensive and structured training encompassing:
- Comprehensive Ground School Training: Providing in-depth theoretical knowledge, system understanding, and regulatory requirements essential for a successful airline pilot career. Training is delivered by world-class instructors to ensure Cadets build robust skills, knowledge, and confidence.
- Progressive Flight Training: Gaining practical flying experience in both single and twin-engined light aircraft, building foundational aeronautical skills vital for future operations.
- Advanced Jet Simulator Training: Developing proficiency in state-of-the-art jet aircraft simulators, mastering Airline Operating Procedures, large jet handling techniques, and multi-crew flying environments.
Requirements for Applicants
Candidates for the Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme must meet the following stringent requirements:
- Possess the legal right to live and work in Hong Kong or the Chinese Mainland. (Candidates eligible for IANG / TTPS are also encouraged to apply.)
- Hold a secondary school diploma with strong academic performance in English Language and either Mathematics or Science. A university degree or an aviation-related major is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrate excellent physical fitness, qualifying for and obtaining a Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) Class 1 Medical Certificate. Applicants should refer to HKCAD policy for complete fitness-to-fly requirements. As this is a Safety Sensitive Role, successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, conducted according to HKCAD Guidance for screening of Psychoactive Substances - Annex B, CAD373, is mandatory.
- Satisfy flight deck reach requirements. Candidates may be asked to complete a static reach test and flight simulator reach assessment during the selection process.
- Achieve a minimum ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) English Language Proficiency level 4 or above.
- Successfully pass a comprehensive pre-employment background check, including criminal records verification.
- Be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
