Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme

Introduction to the Role

Cathay Pacific's Cadet Pilot Programme offers a transformative opportunity for individuals with a passion for aviation and a drive to excel. This program cultivates future captains, providing aspiring pilots with the comprehensive training and experience necessary to operate a diverse range of flights, from regional to ultra-long-haul operations.

Upon successful completion of the approximately 80-week Cadet Pilot Programme, participants will obtain a sponsored Commercial Pilot License and be positioned to embark on a distinguished career as a Cathay Pacific pilot. The training curriculum is designed to be world-class, encompassing ground instruction at leading institutions in Hong Kong and internationally, complemented by flight training at renowned aviation academies in the United States or Australia. This is a year-round application opportunity to launch a promising aviation career.

Application Requirements

Prospective candidates are invited to apply if they meet the following criteria:

  • Eligibility to live and work in Hong Kong or the Chinese Mainland. Candidates holding IANG or TTPS visas are also encouraged to apply.
  • Graduation from secondary school with demonstrated proficiency in English language, Mathematics, or Science. A university or aviation-related degree is considered an advantage.
  • Possession of a valid certificate of English language proficiency from one of the following institutions, meeting the specified minimum scores:
    • IELTS: Academic or General Training, with an overall score of 6.0 or above, including individual band scores of 6.0 or higher in Listening and Speaking.
    • TOEIC: An overall score of 800 or above, with individual band scores of 400+ in Listening and 160+ in Speaking.
    • TOEFL iBT: An overall score of 80 or above, with individual band scores of 21+ in Listening and 21+ in Speaking.
  • Physical fitness and qualification for a Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Ability to meet specified flight deck reach requirements. Candidates may be required to complete a static reach test and flight simulator reach assessment.
  • Achievement of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) English Language Proficiency level 4 or above.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, including criminal record verification.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.

*Applicants should refer to the HKCAD policy for comprehensive medical fitness requirements. As this is a Safety Sensitive Role, candidates must also pass a pre-employment drug test, conducted in accordance with the HKCAD Guidance for screening of Psychoactive Substances - Annex B, CAD373.

Upon successful completion of the Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme, individuals will receive further details regarding their role as a Second Officer with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong.
