Role Overview

Cathay Pacific Airways is seeking experienced aviators to join our Flight Operations department as Direct Entry First Officers. Our pilots operate a world-class fleet across a comprehensive regional, long-haul, and ultra-long-haul network. Candidate Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Hong Kong-based First Officer position:

  • Possession of an ICAO Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) or a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) and corresponding state ATPL examination credits (obtained without exemption or conversion).
  • A valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 or above.
  • Minimum total flying time of 1,500 hours (3,000 hours preferred), including a minimum of 500 hours as P1 (with a maximum of 250 hours as P1 U/S).
  • Additional flight experience requirements:
    • Option A: 500 hours on civil aircraft for multi-crew operations with an MTOW greater than 45,000 kg.
    • Option B: 1,500 hours on civil aircraft certified for multi-crew operations with an MTOW greater than 10,000 kg or aircraft certified and configured for more than 19 passengers, including either 500 hours (with at least 250 P1 and/or P1 U/S hours) in the preceding 5 years OR 100 sectors in the preceding 5 years.

Selection and Compliance

The recruitment process includes a pre-employment medical assessment (inclusive of HKCAD Class 1 medical standards) and a background check, including a criminal record verification. As this is a safety-sensitive role, candidates must also pass a pre-employment drug test in accordance with HKCAD Guidance for screening of Psychoactive Substances (CAD373).

Successful candidates may be assigned to any aircraft within our fleet, including the A321neo, A330, A350, B777, and B747.
