Aviation Training Instructor Job Description
The Aviation Training Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and ensuring regulatory compliance within approved aviation training programs. This role demands a commitment to maintaining personal qualifications, adhering to company policies, and providing comprehensive training to pilot trainees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains all personal licenses, ratings, and instructor privileges, including medical fitness if applicable, to execute assigned duties.
- Ensures the validity of any Authority-granted approvals before conducting training that requires exercising those privileges.
- Complies with all relevant ECFT/CAE policies and procedures at the operational level when performing any training function, activity, or lesson plan.
- Adheres to regulations and procedures pertaining to Authority-approved programs as they apply to a training function, activity, or lesson plan.
- Conducts thorough and positive simulator briefings and training sessions to maximize the training benefit for each pilot trainee.
- Accurately documents any deviations from required SOPs, procedures, or maneuvers and discusses these deviations with the appropriate trainee pilot during the simulator debriefing.
- Reviews client training and checking authorization forms before conducting any training.
- Provides simulator instruction on one or multiple aircraft, requiring extended periods of simulator operation (four or more hours per session, excluding briefing and debriefing time).
- Conducts pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in a thorough and professional manner.
- Instructs classroom ground school sessions utilizing Simfinity, CBT, IPT, or stand-up lecture instruction, which may require prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting (8 to 10 hours).
- Supports the development and certification of training curriculum and devices, including simulator, FTD, and FMS training aids.
- Attains an FAA/EASA ground school and simulator instructor designation within approximately 12 months.
- Obtains the qualifications necessary to serve as an examiner and perform examiner duties under the relevant authority on the assigned aircraft fleet.
- Performs Right Seat Support Duties as required.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties, including completing training records, recommending remedial training when necessary, and tracking personal instructional qualifications.
- Prepares and inspects classroom facilities and equipment prior to the start of each training day.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
