What You’ll Get to Do

As the Special Operations Forces Emerging Threats, Operations, and Planning Support (SOFETOPS) SOF Medical Instructor, you will instruct and provide training delivery support to United States Air Force (USAF) Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Special Warfare Operational Medicine Squadron (SWOMS), and the Modernized Pararescue Provider Program (MP3). You will facilitate MP3 core program and training approaches with curriculum development, instruction, and resourcing for execution of 190-day MP3 courses certifying students as/in National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), Basic Life Saving (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Saving (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Hazmat Life Support (AHLS), Nationally Registry Paramedic (NRP), and Tactical Combat Casualty Care-Combat Paramedic (TCCC-CP). You will instruct and provide training in Pararescue specific skills in accordance with 1Z1 Career Field Education and Training Plan (CFETP), and tasks/skills above and beyond NRP requirements that include Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Canine Tactical Combat Casualty Care (K9TCCC), cadaver lab training/surgical skills, casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), prolonged casualty care, aerospace physiology, and Live Tissue Trauma Training (LTT).

+ Coordinate with Lead Instructor.

+ Develop classroom and academic instruction materials in support of MP3 curriculum and POI.

+ Instruct academics, labs, and field exercises in support of MP3 curriculum and POI.

+ Maintain records of student performance and attendance.

+ Provide student data for inclusion in weekly and monthly reports.

+ Identify potential student, curriculum, and/or exam issues to Lead Instructor.

+ Identify logistics requirements in support of MP3 curriculum and POI.

+ Identify clinical rotation requirements and/or scheduling issues to Lead Instructor.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

+ Minimum of four years certified as Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP).

+ Minimum five (5) years’ experience as Special Operations Forces Medic/ Pararescueman, or five (5) years’ experience as certified Flight Paramedic, or Associate Degree and ten (10) years’ experience as NRP.

+ Instructor certification from National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), National Association of Emergency Medical Services Educators (NEAMSE), U.S. Armed Services instructor course, or equivalent.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor.

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor.

+ Maintain a valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance.

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

+ Bachelor’s or advanced degree.

+ Fifteen (15) years as SOF Medic or Pararescueman, with leadership/management experience at battalion/group or higher headquarters, in the grade of E-8/O-4.

+ Five (5) years’ experience as Pararescueman, Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM), Special Operations Independent Duty Medical Technician (IDMT), or Special Operations Independent Duty Corpsmansupporting Special Operations or Guardian Angel Component.

+ Three (3) Combat and/or Hazardous Zone deployments

+ Four (4) years’ experience as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) instructor.

+ Live Tissue Training (LTT) instructor.

+ Cadaver (CAD) instructor.

+ High Fidelity Manikin instructor/operator.

+ Rotary Wing CASEVAC Simulator instructor/operator.

+ Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) instructor.

+ Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C).

+ Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) instructor.

+ Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) instructor.

+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) instructor.

+ Advanced Hazmat Life Support (AHLS) Instructor.

+ Academic administration experience.

+ Program and/or human resource management experience.

+ Management of EMS and/or hospital internships/affiliations.
