About the Role

British Airways, the UK's flag carrier, is seeking a Flight Technical Trainer / Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (TKI) to join its Approved Training Organisation (BA ATO). This role involves delivering engaging, aircraft-specific theoretical knowledge training for Embraer aircraft, focusing on pilot development, examination success, and regulatory compliance within the flight training department. The position is based in London.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver aircraft-specific technical, procedural, and performance training, primarily in a simulator environment.
• Ensure training aligns with approved regulatory syllabi, British Airways Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and current operational practices.
• Monitor and support learner progress.
• Deliver technical ground school and simulator-based training in accordance with BA ATO and UK CAA requirements.
• Create, administer, and oversee examinations, assessments, and progress tests.
• Monitor learner performance, identify trends, and provide timely feedback or intervention.
• Maintain accurate and compliant learner and training records.
• Support instructor standardisation through continuous professional development.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of ATO requirements, UK CAA/Part-FCL, and theoretical knowledge compliance standards.
• Ability to translate regulatory frameworks into practical training solutions.
• Strong technical understanding of Embraer aircraft systems and their operational application.
• Proficiency with learning technologies such as CAE Pelesys, Quantum, and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Ability to identify and implement lean, automated processes to enhance training efficiency and quality.
• Skilled in analysing training performance data, exam outcomes, operational trends, and safety insights to inform curriculum redesign.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with instructors, subject matter experts (SMEs), training leaders, and regulatory bodies.
• Clear and confident communication skills, capable of simplifying complex concepts.
• Experience delivering Embraer technical systems and theoretical knowledge training as part of aircraft type ratings.
• Experience as a commercial pilot, flight engineer, licensed engineer, flight operations officer, or equivalent aeronautical engineering background is essential.
