Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking a Qualified Flying Instructor (Category B) to join the AH-64 Apache sustainment team in Townsville, North Queensland. This permanent position offers the opportunity to contribute to a foundational team bringing the latest Australian Defence Force (ADF) capability online.
About the Role
As a Qualified Flying Instructor at BDA, the incumbent will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across all aspects of flight training, including airborne, synthetic, and ground-based instruction for the AH-64E Apache helicopter. The role involves overseeing flight operations, maintaining currency and qualifications, championing safety, and supporting administrative tasks to ensure seamless training workflows.
Requirements

Must currently hold or have held an AUS / UK / US military AH-64E qualification.

Hold, or have held in the previous 3 years, a rotary wing Instructor rating equivalent to ADF Category B QFI.

Minimum of 1,500 hours total turbine rotary wing flying experience, with at least 1,000 hours 'Pilot in Command'.

Minimum of 250 hours total AH-64E flying experience, with at least 100 hours 'Pilot In Command'.

Minimum of 450 hours of instructional experience, with at least 300 hours of aircraft instructional experience.

Military command Night Vision Device (NVD) qualification or civilian equivalent.

Fluency in spoken and written English.

Ability to pass an ADF aviation medical, ideally without limitation.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance (Non-Vetted Level 1).
Qualifications

Military Instrument Rating Assessor or civilian equivalent (Desirable).

Hold all qualifications as required by AAvnTC SOPs (Desirable).

Previous instructional experience on synthetic devices (Desirable).

Previous military flying instruction experience (Desirable).

Hold or have held an AUS / UK / US AH-64E V6 qualification (Highly Desirable).
