Bighorn Airways, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced DHC-8 Captain to join its dynamic team in Sheridan, Wyoming. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of customers and employees within a growing and established aviation company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for piloting a DHC-8 aircraft during the 2025 smokejumper season for the US Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management. The role also includes overflow support for FedEx and UPS during the peak Christmas season. The Captain will operate in the challenging Rocky Mountain regions of the Lower 48 states and in Alaska, navigating mountainous terrain and unfavorable weather conditions while performing precision smokejumper drops in remote locations and low-level para cargo deliveries. Point-to-Point missions in IFR conditions are also required.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in low-level flying, preferably with agricultural aviation experience, excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others for extended periods.

Minimum Qualifications:

• ATP or completed ATP Written Exam
• DHC-8 PIC Type Rating
• 3,500 hours total flight time
• 1,500 hours in airplanes
• 2,000 hours multi-engine land
• 200 hours multi-engine turbine
• 100 hours PIC night
• 75 hours PIC instrument
• 1,000 hours PIC cross country
• 250 hours PIC large aircraft (greater than 12,500lb)
• 500 hours PIC turboprop
• 200 hours low level (below 500’ AGL)
• 500 hours mountainous terrain (below 2,500’ AGL)
• 100 hours in airplanes within the last 12 months
