Bighorn Airways, Inc. is actively recruiting a highly experienced pilot to become an integral part of their expanding team. This position presents a unique opportunity to engage with diverse clients and colleagues while contributing to a dynamic and growing organization.

The selected candidate will operate a Dornier 228, supporting critical missions for the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Additional responsibilities include providing overflow support for FedEx and UPS during peak holiday periods. Operations are conducted throughout the Rocky Mountain Regions of the Lower 48 and in the state of Alaska. This role involves operating large aircraft at slow airspeeds within mountainous terrain and often under adverse weather conditions. Duties encompass the deployment of Smokejumpers to remote locations, low-level para-cargo delivery, and point-to-point missions in IFR conditions.

A substantial background in low-level flight operations is essential, with a preference for agricultural aviation experience. The ideal candidate will possess superior customer service skills, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate the capacity to collaborate effectively with others for extended periods.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • FAA ATP certification with a valid First Class Medical.
  • A minimum of 3,500 hours of total flight time.
  • 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in airplanes.
  • 200 hours PIC in multi-engine land airplanes.
  • 100 hours PIC in turbo-prop aircraft.
  • 250 hours PIC in large aircraft.
  • 200 hours of low-level flight time.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 5,000 hours of total flight time.
  • 1,000 hours PIC in turbine multi-engine aircraft.
