Role Overview

Babcock is seeking a professional Pilot to join our team at Barton Aerodrome. In this role, the successful candidate will provide mission-critical aviation services supporting the North-West Air Ambulance Charity. Operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, the Pilot will contribute directly to life-saving operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform single-pilot helicopter missions for air ambulance and emergency medical services.
  • Execute Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) operations across diverse environments.
  • Conduct night flying and complex operational tasking.
  • Collaborate effectively with crew and emergency response teams.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety, compliance, and operational standards.

Essential Experience and Requirements

  • Minimum of 2,000 hours total helicopter experience.
  • Experience requirement (choose one):
    • 1,000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) of aircraft, including 500 hours PIC on twin-turbine helicopters; OR
    • 1,000 hours as Co-Pilot in HEMS/Police operations, including 500 hours as PIC under supervision and 100 hours PIC on twin-turbine helicopters.
  • 500 hours of operational experience in twin-turbine helicopters in environments similar to the intended operation.
  • 20 hours of VFR (Visual Flight Rules) at night as Pilot in Command.
  • Valid UK ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR.
  • Full UK Aviation Class 1 Medical.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain DBS/BPSS security clearance.
  • Must reside within 25nm or 45 minutes of Barton Aerodrome.

Working Conditions

The role operates on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, consisting of 12-hour shifts.
