About the Role
Babcock Mission Critical Services seeks qualified Multi-Engine Helicopter Training and Checking Pilots for its Aviation & Critical Services team. The organisation conducts medical transport and emergency service operations across Australia. While co-location at an operational base is preferred, Babcock supports an agile work environment, accommodating travel and remote work from a preferred home location as needed. The Training and Checking Pilot reports to the Head of Training and Checking (HOTC) for all training and checking matters, and to the Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) for all other flight operations matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting ground, flight, and simulator training as a check pilot, flight instructor, and flight examiner. This supports internal and contracted training and checking activities, as well as approved Part 141 and 142 flight training.
- Maintaining personal competencies and currencies, performing line pilot duties when necessary.
- Assisting other departments as a flight operations subject matter expert for training inquiries and specialist matters.
- Participating in the company's safety incident reporting and investigation process according to the Safety Management System (SMS).
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate is expected to be an industry leader meeting the following minimum qualifications and experience:
- Flight Instructor Rating with Instrument, Type Rating, Low Level, and NVIS endorsements.
- Flight Examiner Rating (Instrument, Type Rating, NVIS desirable).
- Satisfactory record in the conduct or management of training and checking in air operations and SAR/EMS.
- CASA ATPL.
- Class 1 Medical.
- Instrument Rating with MEH endorsement and a minimum of 3 renewals.
- AW139 and/or B412 type rating with 100+ hours experience on type.
- NVIS rating.
- Low-level rating with winch endorsement.
- 2000+ total helicopter hours.
- 1000+ Pilot in Command (PIC) helicopter hours.
- 500+ PIC Multi-Engine Helicopter (MEH) hours, excluding ICUS.
- 100+ instrument flying time hours.
- 200+ night flying hours.
- 50+ NVIS hours.
