Pilot - Thruxton, Andover
Babcock International seeks a highly skilled and experienced Pilot to join its Mission Critical Services Onshore (BMCSO) team at Thruxton Airfield, near Andover, Hampshire. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary of £76,173, along with a comprehensive benefits package. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering world-class helicopter services for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA).
The Pilot will be responsible for conducting day and night Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) operations, utilizing a state-of-the-art H135 T3 helicopter. Responsibilities include ensuring the safe and effective transport of patients and providing critical medical support in emergency situations. The role demands strict adherence to company and customer Health & Safety protocols, as well as all relevant aviation regulations. The position operates on a 12-hour shift roster, with four days on and four days off, ensuring adequate rest and recovery. The successful candidate must reside within 25 nautical miles or 45 minutes of Thruxton Airfield.
Essential Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess one of the following experience profiles:
- 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft, with 500 hours as pilot in command on twin-turbine helicopters.
- 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations, with 500 hours as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours as pilot in command of twin-turbine helicopters.
In addition to the above, all applicants must have:
- A minimum of 2000 hours of total helicopter experience.
- 500 hours of operating experience in twin-turbine helicopters in a similar operational environment.
- 20 hours of VFR at night as pilot in command.
- Fluent English, a valid Driving Licence, Passport, and the Right to Work in the UK.
Qualifications:
- Hold a UK ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR.
- Possess a valid Full UK Aviation class 1 medical certificate.
Security Clearance:
The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
