Touring Pilot - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (BMCSO) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Touring Pilot to join their team at Staverton (Gloucestershire Airport). This full-time, permanent position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a leading provider of mission-critical helicopter services, supporting air ambulance, police, and offshore operations.
About the Role:
The Touring Pilot will play a crucial role in delivering world-class aviation services to BMCSO customers, contributing directly to their life-saving and community protection efforts. The successful candidate will operate predominantly in the East, Midlands, and South of England, undertaking varied and challenging flying across a range of disciplines, including HEMS and NVIS operations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the highest standards of professional expertise and safety in all aspects of the role.
- Operate EC135 and EC145 aircraft in accordance with BMCSO procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure the safe and efficient execution of missions.
Essential Experience:
Candidates must possess one of the following:
- 1000 hours pilot-in-command of aircraft, including 500 hours pilot-in-command on twin-turbine helicopters.
- 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations, including 500 hours as pilot-in-command under supervision and 100 hours pilot-in-command of twin-turbine helicopters.
Additionally, all candidates must demonstrate:
- 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience.
- 500 hours operating experience in twin-turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to HEMS/Police operations.
- 20 hours VFR at night as pilot-in-command.
Ideal Candidates will also possess:
- Recent multi-engine experience.
- Current or recent HEMS experience.
- Experience of NVIS operations.
Qualifications:
- UK ATPL(H) + IR
- Qualified and instrument rated on the EC145.
- Fluent English
- Driving License
- Passport
- Right to Work in the UK
Security Clearance:
- Ability to achieve and maintain SC Clearance is essential.
- Eligibility for the role may be affected by factors such as place of birth, nationality, citizenship, and residency, due to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
