Military Driving Instructor
Position Overview
Babcock International is seeking a dedicated and professional Military Driving Instructor to join our specialist team. Based primarily at RAF Cosford, this role is integral to delivering expert Mechanical Transport (MT) instruction under the HADES Region 1 (TSSP) Contract. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring that all Service, Ministry of Defence (MoD), and contracted personnel are trained to the highest standards of safety and operational competence, contributing directly to a safer and more secure world.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Mechanical Transport Trade Training and Licensing Manager, the instructor will be responsible for a range of critical training and compliance duties. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive vehicle conversion, familiarisation training, testing, and licensing for personnel operating MoD vehicles.
- Assisting in the formal investigation of accidents and incidents involving MoD-operated vehicles to enhance safety protocols and compliance.
- Maintaining meticulous and accurate driver documentation and training records, ensuring regulatory standards and operational readiness are consistently met.
- Providing essential instructional support for Dangerous Goods Awareness and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training programmes.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this position:
- Possession of a full and valid UK driving licence, including at least one of the following vehicle categories: C, C+E, or D.
- Must hold a current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or demonstrate a firm commitment to undertake and complete the necessary CPC training.
- Hold the Defence General Service Driving Conversion Instructor (DGSDCI) qualification or be willing to undertake the course upon successful appointment.
Security Clearance Requirements
The successful candidate must be eligible to achieve and maintain Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance for the duration of their employment. Please note that eligibility for national security clearance may be affected by factors such as place of birth, nationality, and residency history.
