The successful candidate will be an integral part of a niche team, responsible for delivering ground school and synthetic training on the Texan T1 aircraft. Primary responsibilities include conducting ground-based instruction for military BFT Student Qualified Flying Instructors (SQFIs) and ab-initio pilots, covering a range of topics from conversion to advanced tactical maneuvers. The instructor will also facilitate currency training for existing QFIs, conduct computer-based training, computer-aided instruction, and simulator training. Furthermore, they will contribute to curriculum development as a Texan T1 Subject Matter Expert (SME) and participate in innovation initiatives for the future of UK MFTS.
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess prior experience as a Qualified Flying Instructor in a military environment. Qualifications and recommendations from the RAF Central Flying School are essential. Prior experience in a Basic Flying Training role on a turbo-prop airframe is highly advantageous, and experience with synthetic training devices is beneficial. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for instructing and a commitment to student success. They will also be an excellent communicator, adept at working with students of varying skill levels, and comfortable working in a customer-focused environment, ensuring the provision of first-class service.
In addition, the candidate will have experience in multi-faceted flying disciplines, combining leadership and airmanship to create a positive learning environment. They must be able to demonstrate collaborative teamwork, possess strong presentational skills for diverse audiences, and be capable of developing and updating courseware with emerging best practices. A full engagement with the RAF Safety Culture is expected.
