Flight Attendant
Hawaiian Airlines is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Flight Attendant to join its 'ohana. The Flight Attendant will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of guests while delivering exceptional Hawaiian hospitality. This position is based in Honolulu, Hawaii, with recruitment events scheduled to take place locally.
Position Summary:
The Flight Attendant's primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of guests aboard company aircraft. This includes being physically and psychologically capable of performing safety procedures and assisting guests in emergency situations. The Flight Attendant must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, handle emergencies, and interact with diverse personalities in an attentive and pleasant manner. Furthermore, the Flight Attendant provides a consistent level of customer service, including food and beverage service, to create an unsurpassed Aloha experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attending preflight briefings to review weather, altitudes, routes, emergency procedures, crew coordination, flight lengths, food and beverage services, and guest counts.
- Greeting and directing guests to their assigned seats and answering flight-related inquiries.
- Assisting guests with stowing carry-on luggage in overhead compartments or under seats.
- Demonstrating the use of safety equipment (seat belts, oxygen masks, life jackets) and emergency procedures before takeoff.
- Monitoring the aisles to ensure guest compliance with safety regulations, addressing safety infractions, and resolving difficult guest situations effectively.
- Directing and assisting guests during emergency procedures, such as aircraft evacuation.
- Providing consistent and prescribed food and beverage service.
- Collecting and reconciling payments for onboard purchases (alcoholic beverages, meals, duty-free items).
- Administering first aid when necessary.
- Preparing written and verbal reports of emergency or safety incidents during flight.
- Preparing guests and the aircraft for landing according to procedures.
- Successfully completing annual FAA-approved re-certification provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Obtaining and maintaining an AOA Badge.
- Maintaining current knowledge and competency of emergency procedures in accordance with Hawaiian and FAA regulations.
- Being available to work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Interacting effectively and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Delivering a never-ending Aloha experience by promptly and pleasantly responding to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Recognizing potential problems and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Working in diverse climates and locations globally and adapting to variable shifts.
- Flying at high altitudes.
- Meeting the physical demands of the job.
- Assisting ill or incapacitated passengers and crew members.
- Evacuating the aircraft in heavy smoke during a cabin fire.
- Handling and operating oxygen bottles and fire extinguishers.
- Removing and lifting emergency cabin windows (weighing up to 60 pounds).
- Jumping down the emergency slide from a height of approximately 24.5 feet.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 21 years old at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Presenting a professional image, adhering to uniform guidelines regarding visible body art, piercings, and hair.
- Demonstrating strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve difficult customer situations effectively.
- Proficiently reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Successfully completing an FAA-approved, unpaid eight-week intensive training program provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Relocating within the state of Hawaii or the continental U.S.
- Availability to work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to reach 82 inches vertically.
- Ability to sit in a cabin crew jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Completing pre-employment requirements: drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and background check.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Possessing a valid passport and the ability to secure applicable visas for travel to countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Possessing the legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Maintaining valid travel documents throughout training and employment.
- Understanding the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods, stooping, twisting, and handling cabin equipment in varying climatic conditions and cabin pressurization levels.
- Current Employees must be in good standing with the company
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry, OR four years of customer contact and customer service issue resolution in industries such as retail, education, health care, and/or professional services.
- College education or degree.
