Flight Attendant - Japanese Language Qualified
Hawaiian Airlines welcomes applications for a Flight Attendant fluent in Japanese. As a Flight Attendant, the individual's primary responsibility is ensuring the safety and well-being of guests onboard company aircraft. He or she must be physically and psychologically prepared to execute safety procedures and assist guests during emergencies. The Flight Attendant also provides exceptional customer service, creating an unsurpassed Aloha experience for all passengers. This involves delivering consistent and prescribed food and beverage service within the aircraft cabin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attends preflight briefings regarding weather, routes, emergency protocols, crew coordination, flight duration, service offerings, and passenger count.
- Greets guests warmly, directs them to their seats, and answers flight-related inquiries.
- Assists guests with stowing luggage in overhead bins or under seats.
- Demonstrates the proper use of safety equipment and explains emergency procedures before takeoff.
- Monitors the cabin to ensure compliance with safety regulations, addresses infractions, and effectively resolves challenging situations with passengers.
- Directs and assists passengers during emergency procedures, including aircraft evacuation.
- Provides consistent food and beverage service according to established procedures.
- Collects and reconciles payments for onboard products, such as alcoholic beverages, meals, and duty-free items.
- Administers first aid when necessary.
- Prepares written and verbal reports of safety and emergency incidents during flights.
- Prepares the cabin and passengers for landing according to established procedures.
- Successfully completes annual FAA-approved re-certification training provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Obtains and maintains an AOA Badge.
- Maintains current knowledge of emergency procedures in accordance with Hawaiian Airlines and FAA regulations.
- Remains available to work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Interacts effectively and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Collaborates with colleagues to deliver an exceptional Aloha experience, responding promptly and pleasantly to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Identifies potential problems and escalates concerns appropriately.
- Works in diverse climates and locations across the globe, and adapts to variable shifts.
- Flies at high altitudes.
- Meets the physical demands of the job.
- Assists ill or incapacitated passengers and crew members.
- Evacuates the aircraft in heavy, dense smoke during a cabin fire.
- Handles and operates oxygen bottles and fire extinguishers.
- Removes and lifts emergency cabin windows (weighing up to 60 pounds).
- Jumps down the emergency slide from a height of approximately 24.5 feet.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possesses a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Presents a professional image; visible body art (including tattoos), facial, multiple or upper ear piercing, gauge piercings, or extreme hair color or style are prohibited while in the Flight Attendant Uniform and while in any physical position in public areas.
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve difficult customer situations effectively.
- Reads, writes, and speaks English proficiently.
- Speaks advanced/business level Japanese and reads Romaji or Kanji.
- Successfully completes an FAA-approved, unpaid eight-week intensive training program provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Relocates within the state of Hawaii or the continental U.S.
- Works alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reaches 82 inches vertically.
- Sits in a cabin crew jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Completes pre-employment requirements, including a drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and background check.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Possesses a valid passport and secures applicable visas for travel to countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Possesses the legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Maintains valid travel documents throughout all phases of training and employment.
- Works in an environment with varying climatic conditions, turbulence-induced gravitational loads, and cabin pressurization levels; stands for extended periods (up to four to seventeen hours), and performs stooping, twisting, and pulling/pushing of cabin equipment.
- Current Employees must be in good standing with the company.
Hawaiian Airlines conducts post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing for Marijuana, Cocaine, Opioids, PCP (Phencyclidine), and Amphetamine, as regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry, OR four years of customer contact and customer service issue resolution with the general public in industries such as retail, education, health care, and/or professional services.
- College education or degree.
