Summary

The Michigan Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot for a Title 32 National Guard position. This role is based at the MI 127 Wing, Operations Group, within the Michigan Air National Guard, and involves piloting a unit-equipped aircraft, executing tactical and non-tactical missions, and performing administrative duties supporting the Air Operations program.

About the Role

• Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance military fighter aircraft.
• Execute tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids.
• Operate aircraft within flight parameters and execute standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.
• Perform pre-flight preparations, including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft checks, and passenger/crew briefings.
• Ensure utmost aircraft safety by adhering to flight procedures, coordinating with ground units, monitoring performance, and taking corrective action.
• Complete post-flight activities, including maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.
• Serve as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment.

Requirements

• MICHIGAN AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Air National Guard.
• Must wear the military uniform.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must pass a federal employment suitability background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must possess a valid civilian driver's license.

Qualifications

• Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications and military ratings.
• At least two years of experience in civilian or military aviation programs, or within an Army National Guard Aviation Support Facility or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.
• Experience piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).
• Experience in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.
• Experience in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, flight plan filing, and crew briefings.
• Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.
• Experience in operating aircraft controls and equipment.
• Experience in performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, surveillance, or reconnaissance.
• Experience in conducting or supervising crew member training on mission-specific tasks.
• Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
• Experience in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.
• Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs.
• Experience in unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of the Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and OSHA directives.
• Experience in applying directives, regulations, accident reports, safety data, and local operating conditions to determine unit safety program requirements.
• Experience in flying operations and coordinating with appropriate agencies to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Experience in at least one of the following missions: air-to-air, air-to-ground, mortar-to-arm escort, surveillance, reconnaissance, surface attack, killer-scout, target illumination, or laser targeting.
• Experience in traditional "stick and rudder" controls and using aircraft instrumentation and video cameras.
• Experience in visual flight rules (VFR) and instrument flight rules (IFR) flying.
• Experience in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through federally controlled airspace.
• Experience in completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through Operational Risk Management.
• Experience performing aviation duties such as cancelling flights, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, approving activities, coordinating airspace, or directing emergency actions.
• Experience with applicable Army aviation regulations, policies, requirements, standards, skills, practices, and instructional techniques (if applicable).
• Experience in conducting specific missions and flying specific military aircraft in combat tactics, mountainous terrain, remote site evaluations, and night-vision operations.
• Experience in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards.
• Experience with weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.
• Experience with wartime and peacetime contingency plans and supplements for unit mobilizations, deployments, strange field operations, or troop missions.
• Military Grade: O2-O4.

Education

Eligibility is based on the possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and the required competencies.
