Job Summary
The Fixed Wing Pilot is responsible for ensuring the aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients. This position requires strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual (GOM) guidelines, and company policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include safe aircraft operation, pre-flight checks, flight planning, and accurate documentation.
Responsibilities

Operate Air Methods aircraft safely and legally.

Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections to ensure airworthiness.

Serve as the final authority regarding aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

Maintain familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems.

Complete all required flight documentation.

Perform detailed flight planning with minimal notice.

Participate in company meetings, activities, and community outreach.

Adhere to a 7-on, 7-off schedule with 12-hour shifts.
Requirements

Must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds.

Must be less than seventy (70) years old.

Must have flown in category within the previous 24 months.

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Maintains positive interpersonal relationships.
Qualifications

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Program Requirements:

2500 total flight hours

Minimum 2000 flight hours in category

1000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) in category

500 hours of cross-country flight time
-
At least 50 hours of night flight time

500 hours of turbine flight time

100 hours night flight time
-
100 hours of flight in actual instrument conditions in category
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft) (ATP rating in category meets this requirement)

Fixed wing multiengine rating is required for twin-engine aircraft

Commercial single-engine land is required for single-engine aircraft

First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate
