Chief Pilot - Aviation Leadership Opportunity

Job Purpose

The Chief Pilot assumes a critical leadership role, responsible for upholding the highest standards in flight operations. This position ensures that all flights are conducted meticulously in accordance with the provisions of the Operations Manuals. Key responsibilities include the strategic implementation and rigorous maintenance of policies, rules, and procedures essential for the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of the entire fleet, consistently adhering to stringent company policies and GACA Regulations. This role is central to operational excellence and regulatory compliance within the aviation sector.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary liaison between senior management and flight crews, ensuring robust communication channels and facilitating the prompt reporting of critical operational concerns, safety issues, and crew needs.
  • Provides strong leadership, supervision, and comprehensive management to all flight crew members, ensuring unwavering adherence to established company policies, operational procedures, and exacting standards.
  • Oversees the diligent monitoring and timely revision of Operations Manual Parts A, B, and C, including the issuance of temporary amendments, instructions, and notices to Flight Crew as necessitated by operational requirements or regulatory changes.
  • Conducts regular, thorough evaluations of pilots' performance, delivering constructive feedback and championing continuous professional development and improvement across the flight crew.
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with other essential departments, including maintenance, operations, and human resources, to guarantee seamless flight operations, effective training programs, and optimal crew management.
  • Engages in proactive liaison with the GACA (General Authority of Civil Aviation) and other relevant regulatory bodies or aviation authorities on all matters pertaining to Flight Operations.
  • Ensures that all quality assurance requirements pertinent to their area of control are meticulously managed and effectively implemented.
  • Overcomes the efficient and regular monitoring of the fuel conservation plan, driving initiatives for operational sustainability.
  • Ensures that all corrective and preventive actions stemming from quality and safety audits are executed effectively and within stipulated timelines.
  • Fulfills all Safety responsibilities as meticulously outlined in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) Manual.
  • Undertakes any additional duties as assigned by the Head of Flight Operations, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to overall operational success.

Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)

  • Possession of a GACA License is highly preferred, coupled with current Captain qualifications on the A320 aircraft type.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics, Aviation, Management, or an equivalent field is considered a distinct advantage.
  • Essential training in safety and emergency response is mandatory, with a formal qualification in these areas being an added benefit.
  • Mandatory basic training in airport and security procedures and related regulations is required.
  • Training in IATA principles and standards concerning security is highly desirable.
  • Certifications and training in Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting, and Quality Assurance are valuable assets, with some potentially being conditional requirements for this role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating aircraft systems is expected, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Internet usage, and web search functionalities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, encompassing technical reports, professional correspondence, and presentations.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is considered an advantage for this position.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of three years of extensive experience in flight operations within an airline environment, specifically in a Chief Pilot or equivalent senior managerial role.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of GACA regulations.
  • Possession of strong inter-communicational skills, fostering effective team collaboration and departmental coordination.
  • Prior instructional experience is considered an advantage.

Note: Preference will be given to Saudi National Candidates for this role.
