Position Summary

A distinguished aviation services provider is actively seeking a highly qualified and experienced DC-3TP Pilot-In-Command for critical operations supporting Department of Defense maritime surveillance missions outside the Continental United States (OCONUS). This demanding expatriate role requires an exceptional pilot to execute Part 91 flight operations, frequently involving extended overwater and/or low-level flight profiles with unparalleled precision and safety. The position operates on a structured rotational schedule, typically either 30 days on/30 days off, 45/45, or 60/60, and demands significant flexibility to adapt to dynamic operational requirements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The Pilot-In-Command will be entrusted with the supreme responsibility for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the DC-3TP aircraft, ensuring mission accomplishment while upholding the highest standards of professional aviation conduct. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as DC-3TP Pilot-In-Command for all flight profiles, including day, night, and Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) operations.
  • Operating the aircraft in strict adherence to applicable Flight and Ground Operations Procedures (FGOPS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, Host Nation regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Ensuring that all flight operations are conducted with utmost safety and professionalism, maximizing on-station time to achieve mission objectives.
  • Providing essential support for the generation of required reports, mission briefs, and active participation in the Safety Management System.
  • Assisting proactively with aircraft upkeep, fueling procedures, and meticulously documenting any aircraft discrepancies for thorough maintenance review and corrective action.
  • Demonstrating a collaborative spirit and willingness to assist with additional duties as necessary to meet overarching company goals and customer requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not currently encompass supervisory responsibilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Prospective candidates must demonstrate a comprehensive array of skills and meet stringent qualifications, including:

  • Profound working knowledge of applicable FAA rules, regulations, and aviation standards.
  • Substantial tailwheel aircraft experience, with specific hour requirements detailed under Minimum Qualifications.
  • Exemplary attention to detail and a proven capability to complete all required reports accurately and within specified timelines.
  • A strong aptitude for collegial collaboration with company personnel, vendors, and customers within a diverse operational environment.
  • Superior communication and customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Possession of a current US passport.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with an unblemished driving record.
  • Must hold an FAA Class II Medical Certificate (or be eligible to obtain one).
  • Possession of a Commercial Multi-Engine Land (MEL) Pilot’s license; an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate is strongly preferred.
  • A current security clearance at the Secret level or higher.
  • A minimum of 3000 hours total flight time.
  • A minimum of 1000 hours multi-engine time.
  • A minimum of 500 hours turbine time.
  • A minimum of 500 hours Pilot-In-Command (PIC) in DC-3T, DC-3TP, or similar tailwheel aircraft.
  • A minimum of 500 hours experience flying tailwheel aircraft.
  • Possession of a Radio Telephone Operators Permit.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly desirable candidates will also possess:

  • A Multi-Engine Flight Instructor certificate.
  • Previous experience in special mission or flight test operations.
  • A DC-3TP Type Rating is a significant advantage.

Travel and Physical Requirements

This role necessitates significant rotational deployment and travel across the United States and to various international locations, including austere and potentially challenging environments. Candidates must be physically capable of performing duties in a wide range of conditions, including confined spaces, and be able to wear all required safety equipment, such as a respirator. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is also a requisite.
