The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an integral part of AAR, provides premier expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing. This program is headquartered in Rockledge, FL.

Role Description:

The Fixed Wing (DHC-8) Instructor Pilot is responsible for the comprehensive training and evaluation of crew members, ensuring the highest standards of proficiency and safety are maintained. This role includes the meticulous administration of standardization protocols, encompassing flight records, AWIS documentation, and relevant publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts both theoretical and practical training sessions, administering evaluations to ensure crew member competency and adherence to standardized training protocols. Maintains individual IATFs and completes all necessary AWIS entries.
  • Ensures the seamless integration of all DHC-8 RCMs and NRCMs into the ATP, providing thorough training and evaluation in their designated aircraft.
  • Guarantees full compliance with all Standardization Directives, Aircrew Training Manuals, and ATP mandates.
  • Develops customized flight training plans in alignment with the organization's mission objectives and the ATP.
  • Oversees the diligent maintenance of crew member flight records, meticulous weight and balance calculations, and comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Maintains a current and comprehensive knowledge of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation pertinent to contract operations, including any modifications and additions.
  • Trains and qualifies crew members to execute all DHC-8 approved missions.
  • Performs duties as Pilot, Pilot-in-Command, Instructor Pilot, Air Mission Commander, or Flight Lead as assigned.
  • Performs routine travel both internationally and domestically as required.
  • This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificate for Airplane MEL.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Current FAA Class II Medical certificate.
  • FAA CFI-CFII certification.
  • Successful completion of FAA Type Rating Course in the selected type.
  • A minimum of 1500 total fixed wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time and 300 hours as pilot in command.
  • A minimum of 300 hours of turbine engine instructor or check pilot time.
  • Unrestricted type rating.
  • For LATAM Programs: Spanish language proficiency at level L-2, R-2.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an Instructor Pilot in the US Military and/or support on the DoS INLA program.
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification.
