Role Objective
The First Officer (Second-in-Command) supports the Captain, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all flight operations. This pivotal role involves executing assigned duties, strictly adhering to regulatory and organizational instructions, and sharing full responsibility for the safety, security, and integrity of the crew, passengers, cargo, and aircraft. Key Responsibilities and Operational Standards
The First Officer is expected to perform the following core duties, maintaining an unyielding commitment to operational excellence and compliance:
- Assists the Captain in maintaining ultimate responsibility and accountability for the safe operation of the aircraft, crew, passengers, and cargo, ensuring stringent compliance with UAE GCAA, international aviation regulations, company policies and procedures, and industry best practices.
- Performs delegated flight duties in full compliance with company policies, aviation regulations, and established safety standards, while actively fostering professionalism and collaboration among the flight and cabin crew through effective Crew Resource Management (CRM).
- Executes all duties with precision and professionalism, rigorously adhering to the company’s Operations Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure absolute compliance and operational integrity. Proactively proposes alternative actions when necessary, guided by sound CRM principles.
- Continuously monitors aircraft systems, performance metrics, and navigation, promptly addressing any irregularities and ensuring strict adherence to the planned flight profile.
- Identifies, documents, and reports all safety incidents, breaches of SOPs, or operational irregularities. Proactively highlights opportunities to enhance safety and efficiency, ensuring all reports are accurate, comprehensive, and submitted through appropriate channels in line with regulatory requirements.
- Conducts comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to confirm the serviceability of all emergency systems and flight deck equipment. Shares operational responsibility for the aircraft, passengers, crew, and operations from passenger boarding through engine shut down. Oversees ground activities, including fueling and loading, and immediately alerts the Commander of any perceived irregularities.
- Supports the Captain throughout all aspects of the operational day, from reporting for duty at the designated Base of Operations to acting in a professional supporting role at outstations and during layovers, ensuring efficient management until release following post-flight duties upon return to base.
- Assists the Captain, who retains full accountability and responsibility for all operational decisions and the overall conduct of the flight, guaranteeing strict compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
- Operates as a professional brand ambassador by maintaining the highest standards of discipline, conduct, and appearance while on duty and in public. Supports the Captain in ensuring all crew members consistently uphold the corporate and brand image, reporting any inconsistencies through established reporting mechanisms.
- Conducts all flight duties in alignment with the organization’s commercial objectives, expertly balancing operational efficiency with an unwavering commitment to safety and full regulatory compliance.
- Remains informed on the latest UAE GCAA and international aviation legislation, operational standards, and industry best practices, proactively integrating this knowledge to ensure full legal compliance and alignment with evolving trends.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A completed High School Diploma is required.
- Demonstrated fluency in English.
- Possession of an ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Unrestricted Class 1 Pilot Medical Certificate issued by an ICAO Compliant State.
- ICAO English Language Proficiency requirements (Level 4 or above).
- Minimum 2,500 hours total flying time.
- Minimum 1,000 hours on modern (EFIS), multi-crew, multi-engine aircraft over 10 tonnes operating weight (Pilot-in-Command time is highly preferable).
- Minimum 1,500 hours Multi-Pilot Aircraft (MPA) flying time.

Information Security Requirements (ISR)
The First Officer is required to read and strictly comply with the organization’s ISR policies, diligently reporting any observed weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. The role necessitates the completion of all required ISR awareness sessions and adherence to associated guidelines in all day-to-day business operations.
