Wasaya Airways is seeking dedicated and professional individuals to join our Flight Operations team as Flight Attendants. Based in either Thunder Bay or Sioux Lookout, this full-time permanent position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to passenger safety and comfort while representing Wasaya Airways with distinction. Candidates will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and upholding the highest safety standards during flights. Key Responsibilities

The Flight Attendant is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of all passengers throughout the flight. This includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:

  • Executing all duties and responsibilities pertaining to passenger safety and comfort, strictly adhering to the approved Wasaya Airways Flight Attendant Manual and company policies.
  • Following all instructions from the Captain promptly and effectively during emergency situations.
  • Conducting all required safety announcements and demonstrations with clarity and precision.
  • Planning, directing, and controlling in-flight service as required to ensure a smooth passenger experience.
  • Maintaining a high standard of professionalism and decorum at all times.
  • Successfully completing all mandatory Flight Attendant training and ongoing recurrent training.
  • Fostering a healthy, collaborative, and positive working environment for colleagues and passengers.
  • Consistently upholding Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performing any other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • A Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel freely domestically within Canada.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) and other necessary security passes.
  • A professional and neat appearance, consistent with airline standards.
  • Possession of reliable transportation to and from the airport.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS-Office, internet navigation, and email.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both within a team and independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures meticulously.

Note: French language proficiency is not a requirement for this position.

Assets (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Previous Flight Attendant experience.
  • Prior experience within the airline industry.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Oji-Cree or Ojibway.
  • Bilingualism in English and French.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This role involves dynamic working conditions inherent to the aviation industry:

  • Frequent travel is required.
  • Availability for overtime as needed.
  • Regular evening and weekend work is mandatory.
  • Scheduled overnights may be necessary.
  • Must be available for duty on short notice.
  • Exposure to outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Tolerance for exposure to loud noises and other inherent hazards of the job.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity is required for the use of desktop computers and peripherals.
