An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly capable aviation professional to join the team in Perth as the Leader, Crew Culture. This strategic leadership position is integral to maintaining the standards of Virgin Australia’s award-winning Cabin Crew, a team recognized as Best Cabin Crew for seven consecutive years.
The primary responsibility of the Leader, Crew Culture, is to lead, support, coach, and develop a large, diverse team of customer service professionals who operate onboard the airline's fleet. This leadership role is crucial for fostering a collaborative, empowered, and high-performing environment that ensures every guest’s journey is exceptional. The incumbent reports directly to the Crew Culture Manager and is responsible for driving operational performance and team conduct in alignment with Virgin Australia’s core values, policies, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
The Leader, Crew Culture, is expected to perform the following critical duties:
- Inspire and motivate Cabin Crew, cultivating an environment that consistently delivers memorable customer experiences on every flight.
- Ensure the team rigorously meets operational targets, stringent aviation safety regulations, and performance metrics while upholding superior service quality.
- Embed and actively lead a positive people culture consistent with the Virgin Australia Group’s strategic vision and overarching purpose.
- Facilitate effective performance management meetings, ensuring strict compliance with established company policies, procedures, and Fair Work obligations.
- Guarantee that all team members adhere to the Enterprise Agreement (EA), applicable workplace regulations, and internal company policies.
- Support comprehensive investigations into workplace incidents, grievances, and disciplinary matters, ensuring processes are fair, compliant, and timely.
- Proactively manage the health and wellbeing of Cabin Crew members, which includes leading return-to-work procedures, supporting injury management processes, and liaising effectively with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide essential support to the day-to-day operation as required, ensuring performance metrics are consistently achieved.
Essential Skills and Experience
To be successful in this pivotal Crew Leadership role, candidates must demonstrate the following requirements:
- A minimum educational qualification of Year 12 or equivalent.
- Proven leadership experience managing large, diverse teams within a fast-paced business environment.
- Previous experience within the aviation industry is required, ideally within a Cabin Crew or a dedicated Crew Leadership position.
- Demonstrated experience leading remote teams effectively.
- Highly trusted people leadership capability with a history of positive influence.
- A proven ability to successfully influence and engage senior business leaders.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence, including the capacity to monitor, understand, and respond to behaviours to achieve positive outcomes.
- The demonstrated ability to drive positive customer outcomes across a large and diverse workforce.
- A comprehensive understanding of working within the scope of an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA).
- Proficiency in standard computer literacy applications.
