Job Summary
This position is for a Staff Captain aboard cruise ships operated by TUI Cruises GmbH. The role involves deputising for the Captain, managing key departments, ensuring smooth ship operations, and representing the company to guests. The role is based at sea.
About the Role

Assume responsibility for the nautical aspects of ship operations, acting as deputy to the Captain.

Lead and manage the Deck, Bridge, Security, Safety, and Hospital departments.

Oversee the seamless execution of ship operations, including safety, emergency preparedness, stability, hazard prevention, and deck operations, encompassing maintenance planning and execution.

Direct tender operations and, on select vessels, Zodiac operations.

Actively foster and embody a professional Bridge Resource Management culture.

Conduct disciplinary discussions in collaboration with the onboard HR Manager.

Ensure ship operations comply with all relevant international and national regulations and laws.

Engage with guests, serving as a key representative of the company.

On select Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ships, participate in half-bridge watches (4 hours).
Requirements

Previous experience as a Staff Captain on a cruise ship.

Ideally, experience in the expedition segment for expedition ships.

A valid Captain's license.

Current STCW certificates.

Thorough knowledge of Bridge Resource Management.

Proficiency in operating standard nautical equipment.

Experience in managing tender operations.

Experience in Zodiac operations is advantageous or desirable for expedition ships.

Comprehensive understanding of international maritime regulations, conventions, and environmental provisions.

Native-level German language proficiency and very good written and spoken English skills.
