TUI Cruises GmbH is seeking a Staff Captain to join their team on cruise ships, located in Germany. The role involves deputizing for the Captain and leading various departments, ensuring smooth ship operations, and maintaining high safety and security standards.
About the Role

Deputise for the Captain and assume responsibility for nautical operations.

Lead the Deck, Bridge, Security, Safety, and Hospital departments.

Ensure seamless ship operations, including safety, emergency preparedness, stability, hazard prevention, and deck operations.

Plan and execute maintenance work.

Responsibly manage tender operations and, on selected vessels, Zodiac operations.

Actively promote and embody a professional Bridge Resource Management culture.

Prepare and conduct disciplinary discussions in collaboration with the onboard HR Manager.

Ensure ship operations comply with international and national regulations and laws.

Communicate and interact with guests, acting as a key representative of the company.

On selected Hapag-Lloyd Cruises vessels, perform half-bridge watches (4 hours).
Requirements

Previous experience as a Staff Captain on a cruise ship.

Ideally, experience in the expedition segment for expedition ships.

A valid Captain's license.

Current STCW certificates.

In-depth knowledge of Bridge Resource Management.

Proficiency in operating standard nautical equipment.

Experience in managing tender operations; experience in Zodiac operations is an advantage or desirable for expedition ships.

Strong understanding of international maritime regulations, conventions, and environmental laws.

Native-level German language skills and very good written and spoken English skills.
