Officer Dispatch

The Officer Dispatch plays a crucial role in supporting flight operations, reporting directly to a qualified Flight Dispatcher. This position is essential for assisting in the safe and efficient execution of flights in strict adherence to regulatory and company standards. Key responsibilities include coordinating with flight crews, ensuring compliance with all legal and operational requirements, and actively contributing to the maintenance of flight safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Flight Crew Management & Coordination: Coordinate flight crew assignments, verifying compliance with competency standards and regulatory requirements. Monitor and manage crew schedules, ensuring adherence to flight and duty limitations. Handle crew changes and attendance monitoring. Liaise with crew schedulers to address schedule disruptions or crew sickness.
  • Flight Preparation & Planning Support: Verify aircraft maintenance status and confirm readiness for planned operations. Assist in planning or reviewing flight plans, with a focus on fuel requirements and availability. Gather and evaluate critical operational data, including weather reports and NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen). Prepare comprehensive briefings for the Pilot in Command (PIC), covering all relevant safety and operational information.
  • Operational Control & Monitoring: Issue accurate and relevant flight documentation to the PIC. Maintain continuous monitoring of meteorological conditions impacting operations. Report any abnormal operations, unusual conditions, or irregularities promptly to the Dispatch Supervisor.
  • Flight Monitoring & Oversight: Maintain constant flight watch over all operational flights, ensuring adherence to established dispatch protocols. Monitor aircraft turnaround times and confirm crew readiness for departures. Update relevant systems with precise flight timings and essential operational data.
  • Aerodrome & Runway Operations: Coordinate maintenance aspects of aerodrome facilities. Ensure flights are not dispatched to unserviceable locations. Obtain necessary clearances for runway usage.
  • Data Management & Documentation: Accurately enter and maintain flight release data within designated systems. Ensure meticulous filing and documentation of flight releases and other vital operational documents.
  • Emergency Response & Coordination: Adhere strictly to procedures outlined in the Emergency Response Manual. Collaborate with other departments to facilitate timely flight departures and effectively manage emergencies or technical issues.

Working Environment:

This role operates within a dynamic and high-responsibility environment, critical to both ongoing flight operations and the safety of valuable assets. The Officer Dispatch is expected to make timely, informed decisions based on detailed information and maintain composure during potentially high-pressure situations and emergencies. The position requires flexibility for shift work, including morning and afternoon schedules, and may involve occasional overtime.

Requirements:

Prospective candidates should possess:

  • Strong academic results (e.g., G.C.E. A/L or equivalent).
  • Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated sound analytical abilities.
  • Proven flexibility to work effectively in shift-based environments.
  • Prior experience in an aviation operations or similar role is considered a distinct advantage.
