Engineering Test Pilot – Fixed Wing / Rotary Wing
Position Overview:
Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) is seeking qualified Engineering Test Pilots for permanent positions within the flight test division in Ottawa, ON. This recruitment process aims to fill two vacancies—one for Fixed Wing and one for Rotary Wing aircraft—while establishing a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the National Aircraft Certification, Civil Aviation Branch, the Engineering Test Pilot performs the following duties:

Determining flight test programs required for aircraft certification approval.

Serving as a flight crew member to conduct certification flight tests and auditing manufacturer production standards.

Developing new regulations, advisory guidance material, and acceptable flight test techniques.

Reviewing qualifications and providing technical recommendations for ministerial delegation authorization regarding design approval flight testing.

Maintaining specialized piloting skills and participating in professional development and training as required.
Essential Qualifications

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in engineering, mathematics, science, or a field relevant to the position; OR eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada.

Professional Training/Experience:
Successful completion of a one-year Engineering Test Pilot course recognized by Transport Canada; OR a minimum of five years of experience as an experimental/developmental test pilot with a manufacturer of civil-certified transport category aircraft.

Technical Experience:
Significant engineering flight test experience as a pilot in command (PIC) across multiple aircraft types and significant experience as an engineering test pilot.

Knowledge Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge of civil airworthiness certification design standards, aircraft operations, flight test techniques, aerodynamics, stability and control, performance, power plants, and aircraft system operation.
