Avionics and Mission Systems Integration Engineer

Location: Fort Worth, Texas or Huntsville, Alabama (Onsite)

The Opportunity

Join a team of innovative and talented engineers focused on the integration of complex vehicle management and mission systems. As a key platform integrator, the engineer will be responsible for bringing together aircraft systems and software to ensure efficient and safe operation for pilots and crew. This role offers the chance to work with suppliers and customers, applying the latest technology and modular architectures to meet critical mission requirements. The engineer will contribute to developing the future of aviation by integrating sensors, communication, navigation, and autonomy into next-generation cockpits, optimizing displays, controls, and interfaces for the test and evaluation of manned and optionally manned aircraft. This position involves close collaboration with test pilots and technicians in the design and testing of advanced aircraft systems, providing opportunities to tackle significant engineering challenges and gain valuable experience in leadership and communication within an integral team working alongside customers and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with ARP4754A for architecture and systems development.
  • Experience in developing and validating requirements for complex systems.
  • Proficiency in system development and testing within a Systems Integration Lab environment.
  • Experience with aircraft installation, functional testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through the development, integration, validation, and verification phases of systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving system integration and verification issues.
  • Experience designing system architectures using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is highly valued.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, and brief leadership and customers effectively.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Candidates holding other engineering degrees with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • A minimum of two years of design experience in one or more of the following avionics disciplines is required: data links, navigation, crew station design, displays, open processing environments, aircraft survivability equipment, optical sensors, radar and antenna integration, vehicle management systems, weapons systems, or health monitoring systems. Additional years of experience are a plus.
  • Must be able to gain and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance.
