Flight Test & Instructor Pilot – Defense & Special Missions

Description

JOB SUMMARY

This position is for an experienced Flight Test and Instructor Pilot with the ability to coordinate flight operations and training execution. Candidate will be primarily responsible for conducting production flight testing and conversion training flights on Textron Aviation (TA) Defense or customer T-6 and/or AT-6 aircraft. Substantial direct support to various Sales Support efforts may also be required. Additional responsibilities will include flights to off-site international destinations as well as engineering flight testing of new and existing Textron Aviation aircraft. Responsibilities may also involve courseware development, flight syllabus development and engineering simulator testing for new and existing Textron Aviation aircraft. Candidate must collaborate and communicate effectively with multiple engineering and management disciplines. Significant travel will be required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

99. Act as pilot-in-command for production flight testing, demonstration, delivery and company and/or customer crew training in TA Defense (T-6 and AT-6) & Special Mission (SM) aircraft

99. Occasionally support as aircrew engineering flight testing of TA Defense & SM aircraft

99. Be willing to adapt to dynamic flight schedules

99. Coordinate with the Defense Training team to support customer T-6 and AT-6 flight simulator development, testing and in-country customer acceptance activities

99. Provide pilot input and review of both new developmental technical publications as well as continuing operational safety support to 1,000 fielded T-6 and AT-6 aircraft

99. Support new program bid and proposal efforts via providing flight operations perspective, developing and submitting bids for scope of responsibilities in a timely manner

99. Represent company professionally at airshows, customer visits, and special events; follow up with appropriate Regional Sales Director with any leads or customer comments

99. Maintain an active and supporting role in the company Safety Management System

99. Travel to off-site and often international facilities for aircraft delivery and customer support

99. Contribute to the growth of the organization with innovative thinking and safe, effective execution

Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physical Science or Aviation-Related area

+ Minimum 5 years flight experience required, with significant single-engine turboprop experience

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

+ 1,000 hours total pilot time; 750 hours PIC (SE turboprop experience required)

+ FAA Commercial ASEL and AMEL pilot license with Instrument Rating

+ FAA Class I medical certificate

+ Experience in post-maintenance or production flight testing of military training aircraft

+ Former USN, USMC or USAF Military Flight Instructor or CFI/MEI/CFII

+ Formation flying experience in military ejection seat-equipped aircraft

+ Familiarity with development, test and evaluation of military and/or special mission aircraft

+ Strong risk-considered decision-making ability in high-consequence flight operations

+ Ability to multi-task, prioritize and remain organized during fast-paced operations

+ Be independent and self-motivated; able to self-direct and manage time effectively

+ Eligible for SECRET security clearance

+ Significant travel required
