Flight Instructor (M/F/X)
SAF Aerogroup, a rapidly expanding multinational aviation organization, seeks a qualified Flight Instructor to join its dynamic team at the X Aero Training Academy in Albertville, France. This individual will play a crucial role in training and enhancing the skills of pilots within the academy's comprehensive programs.
Job Purpose:
The Helicopter Instructor Pilot is responsible for delivering high-quality training to pilots, focusing on both Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), and ensuring adherence to the highest aviation safety standards. The instructor will focus on the training and proficiency enhancement of multi-engine helicopter pilots, with particular emphasis on Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) operations and advanced techniques such as Night Vision Goggles (NVG) flying.
Responsibilities:
- Provide theoretical and practical flight training in VFR and IFR, including specialized courses on HEMS operations using multi-engine helicopters.
- Conduct flight training under various conditions, including day, night, and using Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD).
- Assess pilot competencies in safety protocols, mission management, and utilization of onboard systems.
- Participate in HEMS training missions alongside the airline team.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures during all training flights.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and technological advancements in aviation.
- Maintain personal flight qualifications and certifications through continuous training.
- Manage administrative tasks related to training programs.
- Develop and update training curricula in compliance with EASA regulatory standards.
- Customize course content based on HEMS mission feedback and technological innovations.
- Maintain thorough records of trainee progress and provide regular reports to ATO management.
- Operate the Instructor Operator Station (IOS) for supervising and evaluating flight simulation sessions.
Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL(H) or ATPL(H)) with IR/PBN rating and instructor certifications (FI(H) and/or TRI(H)); IRI certification is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience as a professional pilot and instructor on helicopter types such as EC135, EC145, and/or AW109; IOS experience is an advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation regulations and safety procedures (Part-FCL, EASA, etc.).
- Proficiency in handling emergency situations and training students in risk management.
- Fluency in aviation English, at a minimum ICAO Level 4 proficiency.
- In-depth understanding of IFR flight rules, navigation procedures, onboard equipment (GPS, VOR, ILS), and civil aviation standards.
- Proven ability to teach complex concepts, adapt instructional methods, and provide constructive feedback.
Additional Information:
The instructor will report to the Training Manager of the Approved Training Organization (ATO) and will interact regularly with other instructors, trainees, and administrative staff. They will also collaborate with the maintenance department to ensure the availability and compliance of aircraft. The role demands significant responsibility in training competent pilots while upholding stringent safety standards. Decision-making authority is granted within pedagogical approaches and in-flight decisions, adhering to regulatory norms and internal procedures.
Location: Albertville, France
Compensation: 72,000 to 100,000 EUR annually, commensurate with experience.
