Opportunity Overview

Skybus and Aurigny airlines are seeking highly motivated First Officers to join their flight crews, operating the DHC6 Twin Otter across their established regional route networks. Excellent opportunities are available for basing in either the UK mainland with Skybus or in Guernsey, The Channel Islands, with Aurigny.

This pivotal role can be fulfilled on a full-time or part-time basis, with flight hours adhering strictly to the company's CAA-approved Flight Time Limitations (FTL) scheme, ensuring adherence to the highest safety and regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the multi-crew DHC6-300 series fleet. Primary operations will involve serving regional networks connecting the UK mainland with St Mary's, Isles of Scilly, or the UK mainland with The Channel Islands. Furthermore, there will be opportunities for inter-base exchanges and participation in ad-hoc charter operations as required, offering diverse flying experiences.

Requirements for the First Officer Position

Applicants must meet the following essential criteria to be considered for this First Officer role:

  • Possession of a valid UK-issued Part-FCL ATPL (full or frozen).
  • Hold a valid UK-issued Class 1 Medical Certificate with a minimum of three months' validity remaining.
  • Hold a valid Instrument Rating on a multi-engine aircraft with a minimum of three months' validity remaining.
  • Completion of an MCC (Multi-Crew Cooperation) course.
  • Completion of an AUPRT (Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training) course.
  • A minimum of 200 total flight hours, including at least 70 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
  • Demonstrated fluency in both spoken and written English.
  • Possession of the legal right to live and work in the UK.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive employer references for the past five years to facilitate airside security pass clearance.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The following qualifications and experiences are highly desirable and will significantly strengthen an application:

  • Current or previous DHC6 Twin Otter type rating.
  • Previous flight experience in turbo-prop aircraft.
  • Experience operating light multi-engine aircraft (e.g., King Air, Shorts Skyvan, Islander, Trislander).
  • Flight experience in tailwheel aircraft, gliding, or similar flight disciplines.
  • Prior experience within regional airlines, small operators, island communities, freight, medivac, or similar operational environments.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • For the UK mainland base (Skybus), the starting salary is £32,625, increasing to £33,625 upon successful completion of line training, with subsequent annual increments.
  • For the Channel Islands base (Aurigny), the starting salary is £42,623.44.
