Senior eVTOL Flight Instructor

Pivotal, a leader in the electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft market, seeks a highly skilled and passionate Senior eVTOL Flight Instructor to join its team in Palo Alto, CA. Pivotal designs, develops, and manufactures innovative light eVTOL aircraft, including the BlackFly, the first light eVTOL to achieve manned missions and enter the consumer market. Responsibilities:

The Senior eVTOL Flight Instructor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive flight training, encompassing pre-flight planning and briefing, ground and flight lessons, and post-flight debriefs and reporting. Specific duties include:

Conducting classroom, simulator, and flight training for BlackFly ultralight pilots.
Clearly conveying complex aviation concepts to trainees.
Maintaining meticulous training documentation.
Performing assigned engineering and administrative tasks.
Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and company operating procedures.
Prioritizing safety in all aspects of instruction and operations.
Identifying areas for training improvement and implementing solutions.
Contributing to strategic planning for the training program, influencing flight standards and future training direction.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

Minimum three years of direct aviation training program experience.
Proven ability to create engaging eLearning training content.
Proficiency in filming and producing high-quality training videos.
The physical capability to pilot Pivotal aircraft (maintaining a fully clothed weight of 185 lbs or less).
Exceptional adaptability and the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations, consistently achieving objectives despite changing circumstances.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Strong understanding of aviation and safety training best practices.
Flexibility to work varied schedules and travel within California and potentially out of state.
Meticulous attention to detail and a strong safety-oriented mindset.
Clear and concise written communication skills.
Experience as a Part 61 or Part 107 certificated pilot.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is detailed in Pivotal's Pay Structure - Pay Bands (PB) 11-14. A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans, is offered.
