Pilot-in-Command

An established flight department seeks a highly experienced Pilot-in-Command to join a dedicated team of 15 pilots and 5 cabin attendants operating a fleet of four aircraft. This pivotal role is responsible for the safe, comfortable, and timely execution of domestic and international flight operations, comprising approximately two-thirds North American missions and one-third missions outside North America, including South America, Europe, and Asia. The Pilot-in-Command provides leadership and supervision to the flight crew, ensuring strict compliance with all FAA Regulations and departmental standards. The role involves determining optimal route, speed, and take-off/landing times to meet complex scheduling requirements. The Pilot-in-Command participates actively in mission planning with trip coordinators and international handlers, often commencing days before departure. Critical decision-making authority rests with the Pilot-in-Command regarding potential delays, re-routing, or flight cancellations. Pilots may also contribute to general department duties when not engaged in flight operations, such as attending crew meetings.

This position is primarily based at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), with occasional operations out of Waterford, MI, depending on the aircraft's previous assignment location. Successful candidates must reside within a two-hour commute of DTW. The operational tempo for crew members assigned to this account averaged 16 days per month in 2024, subject to seasonal fluctuations in activity.
