Primary Location: Rotational deployment across Europe (including UK, Poland, Norway, Sweden). The home base of operations is the UK and Europe. Worldwide travel is required based on mission contract needs.

The Special Air Missions Group (SAM)

The Special Air Missions Group (SAM) is pivotal in developing and delivering Metrea’s core capabilities in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Special Mobility, and Aerial Firefighting (AFF). SAM ensures operational readiness by overseeing fleet maintenance, integrating advanced mission systems, maintaining strict regulatory compliance, and managing strategic partnerships. The Group ensures airborne capabilities remain adaptable and mission-ready across diverse and dynamic operational environments.

Position Summary

The King Air Captain is appointed as the Pilot in Command (PIC) and holds primary responsibility for the safe, effective, and efficient operation of a multi-engine turboprop aircraft, specifically the King Air 300 series. This critical role ensures all missions are executed in strict adherence to UK CAA, FAA, and EASA policies, alongside the stringent Aviation Operations Europe Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role demands proficiency in complex flight planning and coordination required for specialized ISR flights from both established and austere locations.

This is a full-time, deployed position. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all mandatory training, background checks, and necessary security clearances. Working hours and shift patterns will vary significantly in line with dynamic operational demands to ensure mission effectiveness.

The role involves rotational deployments within Europe, comprising mixed assignment lengths followed by a similar period off rotation. During deployments, the Captain must be capable of working effectively with minimal supervision in austere, arduous, and field conditions, as the work environment varies significantly based on mission contracts.
